Went there with the medium ride led by @PaulW today. Slightly pricey (£5 for tea and cake) but excellent food (Victoria sponge and bacon sandwich enjoyed by our group today) and endless refills on the tea made it a definite recommendation.
Slightly obscure to find - not in Woodford itself, turn out of Woodford on Station Road, climb up to two railway bridges (both of which cross over abandoned tracked bed) and turn right down a track (signed) immediately after the second railway bridge.

I'm surprised you paid £5 for tea and cake James. I was there today and paid £5 for coffee and slab of Bakewell tart. I have to add that the coffee is the best for miles.
Turn right of the Eydon Road down the track to the right to find the Country Lifestyle Shop, within the main shop it has a nice small coffee room, also has a good outside seating area.. and bike rack too... has a good menu including a good selection of cakes and beverages.

its a nice 20 mile ride distance too through the Northants rolling countryside..
