  • Hi Folks,

As its the first Sunday of the month its a combined A and B Gran Fondo. Wind it set to blow from the NE, and in order to avoid a return visit to Salcey Forest for the B riders, destination will be the Old Diary at Upper Stowe. It is going to be 'rolling' terrain on way out to the Cafe Stop at 35 miles, but return leg will be easier. Overall distance is 60 miles, pace will be determined by the slowest rider but expect around 15 mph average.

Weather is set to be dry, light winds from the NE, and temperature around 10 deg C.

    Destination: Old Dairy Upper Stowe
    Distance: 60 miles
    Pace: 15+ mph
Duration: ride time 4hrs plus stop
Gradients: Rolling with 2300 ft of climbing

Please note the earlier start time of 8:15 for an 8:30 start. Hope to see you Sunday, be great to have a good turn out of A and B riders. If you can make it please hit the I'm attending button.

  • Thanks Phil for a very enjoyable ride. Special thanks for towing me along the Shutlanger straight, which helped me to three Strava PRs!

As Pat's Wahoo wasn't working he's welcome to my Wahoo stats:

    • 61.1 miles
    • 3642 feet of climbing
    • 15.6 mph (per Ride with GPS, which ignores the time the auto-pause wasn't working)
    • 140 average heart rate, 168 maximum (a lot lower than the rowers in the boat race)
  • Great ride Phil, thanks for leading.

For anyone interested, Catesby Tunnel (which we passed the entrance to at Charlwelton) is now an aerodynamic testing facility.

Maybe next time we're passing, we call in to refine our cycling position.
