Hi! I’m in a similar position to Liz in that I’m not sure if I can ride yet due to I’m recovering from an injury and therefore I wont put myself forward as a leader. If I can ride, I will go with the C riders. Looking at the proposed shortened route it looks like 53 miles with an elevation of over 3000m. This may be too much for some (and for me at the moment) and I don’t know the island well enough to know what the roads are like to shorten it further or which bits you want to miss out etc.

Just a reminder to sign up to the relevant A/B/C ride - this may also allow a more targeted discussion on route options.
Based on previous experience, riding all around the island (around 60 miles) is feasible in a day (inc. stops) without requiring an A pace. But clearly it comes down to the appetite/interest of each group.

Can we do Yarmouth down the coast to Vetnor and then cut across or just go back the same way !!
Not proposing to do the whole island as it’s too hilly ! 35- 40 miles is a good way with coffee and lunch -

Is this the sort of thing you are thinking of?
It shows coffee stops and pubs too 🥰

Depending on time, and how our three rides progress, we may want to have a drink and/or food when we finish the ride at Yarmouth. There are various pubs (I remember one with a large garden overlooking the sea - it may be the George in Quay Street). There is a cyclist-recommended cafe called Off The Rails (https://www.offtherailsyarmouth.co.uk) on Station Road, but it closes at 4 and food finishes at lunch, so may not be suitable. A fast food option is Salty's Pizzeria, Bar & Takeaway on Quay Street (pizzas, chips, etc), which is open until 11:30pm on Sunday.
Feel free to post any other suggestions. We can use the IOW WhatsApp chat to coordinate on the day.
If you want to plan the route and lead then there’s a vacancy. The benefit of this is that you can choose exactly where to go. Only offered to plan in the absence of an existing route and RL. Thought it might help - no issues either way.
Maybe discuss with the other c’s
