Great post @Woods thanks. I'd definitely be up for a taster. Would be great to see if we've got the interest to enter a team in one of the local events you mention in 2016.

I really want to get into some TT this year, especially team TT. If other members want to enter any of the events, count me in.
As promised here are some explanations’ on the fun of time trialing for those interested in this cycling activity?
TT’s are run over a many distances, usually 10, 25, 30, 50, 100 miles with some in between. There are also a few 12 & 24 hour events to choose from too. Courses are generally run out to a RAB (round-a-bout) and back. A number as would expect are run over different topography’s with many early events in the year described as “hilly” and yes I can vouch that some are!
The courses are all numbered, historically a secret code approach to throw the rozzer’s of the scent as they were deemed illegal, as examples we have locally the Brogborough (F15), Tring (F11) and Towcester (N17).
Club Events: there are a few locally to choose from during the season in the week and run by the likes of the A5 Rangers, Team MK, Bicester Millennium and NBRC (North Bucks - which I do). If you are interested just check out their websites for routes, dates and timings..
National Events: as I’ve said these are run by the CTT and whilst there is an annual bible for UK events a view of their website will give you an idea, to help I’d narrow the events search to district London North (NORLOND [F]) as there are hundreds to choose from and view.
At present the Swan’s are not sanctioned to run any club TT’s events and also not nationals ones as the Swans need to be affiliated to the CTT (Cycling Time Trials), NORLOND group. As individual “Swans” though it’s a YES you can but only in club events in the first instance, unless like me you’re a member of an affiliated club also like Bossard Whrs.
Costs: for clubs like a NBRC run event its £3 for CTT events its typically £8 - £10 and that’s including insurance.
A couple of us have had some chats about this subject and doing one “off piste” so to speak for ourselves as a taster? I’m happy to run it and I even have a 10 mile route in mind, thanks JG.
I hope that this will give you better understanding for TT’s and as you’d expect I’m happy to sit down a chat and explain this process further, just another excuse for a pint!
