  • What time ferry are we getting? Thinking I should probably get some sort of vague plan in place

  • I think we should aim for the 9am ferry from Lymington. Which would mean a 6:30 start from Buckingham for a two-hour journey.

  • Proposed stops:

For lunch, I suggest we stop at Pedallers Cafe:
    https://pedallerscafe.co.uk

It appears to be a recommended cafe welcoming cyclists and open on Sunday from 10-4.
    It is at mile 28.8 / 46.3km at Langbridge, Newchurch, PO36 0NP

  • We may also stop for a coffee at Cowes, at mile 51.3 / 82.6km. Many cafes aren't open or close early on Sundays, so PO41 Coffee House Cowes looks a good option: it is open until 4pm, and our route takes us right past it, after having crossed the river, avoided the town centre, and rejoined the seafront.

    Address: 11 Bath Rd, Cowes PO31 7QN

  • Depending on time, and how the other rides are progressing, we may want to have a drink and/or food when we finish the ride at Yarmouth. There are various pubs (I remember one with a large garden overlooking the sea - it may be the George in Quay Street). There is a cyclist-recommended cafe called Off The Rails (https://www.offtherailsyarmouth.co.uk) on Station Road, but it closes at 4 and food finishes at lunch, so probably isn't suitable. A fast food option is Salty's Pizzeria, Bar & Takeaway on Quay Street (pizzas, chips, etc), which is open until 11:30pm on Sunday.

  • Route now updated to take in the lunch stop (turns out I could do this after all, I just hadn't tried properly before!). USE THIS ROUTE AND NOT THE ONE POSTED PREVIOUSLY!

    Distance: 66.5 miles / 107km
    Ascent: approx. 4000 ft / 1200m
    Stops at mile 28.8 / 46.3km and mile 51.3 / 82.6km as above
