It's been a while since we visited Waterperry but always a nice destination in the warm weather. We follow a fairly well-established route, fairly flat in the main but with a few climbs on the way out (Ashendon, Canons Hill, Chilton) and Brill on the way back to liven things up.
Distance: 55 miles / 89km, with the stop at 28 miles / 46km
Ascent: approx. 2300 ft / 700m
Speed: 17+ mphWeather looks fine for Sunday morning: cloudy and warm (20C), light SSE wind, rain not forecast until later in the afternoon
Hope you can join - please sign up if you fancy it!

So, just the three of us @RobFactor👍 and @PatH🚴🏻🍌!!! (Others very welcome to join)
Here's one option starting from Rowsley, just north of Matlock, going up to Winnats Pass which is spectacular. The route includes a loop at Hathersage but I've included the stats without this loop in case it is too much
Distance: 63 miles / 102 km (without loop: 52 miles / 84 km)
Ascent: 5700 ft / 1750 m (without loop: 4500 ft / 1375 m)The loop is easy to cut out so we could even decide on the day. Lots of good cafe options half way round at Hope and Castleton.
What do you think? Still interested?

Distance: 62 miles / 100km, with the cafe at 43 miles / 69km
Ascent: approx 2400 ft / 720m
Speed: 17 - 19 mph, staying together as a group
Forecast: cloudy but dry and getting quite warm, no real windPlease sign up if you fancy it - it will be great to have you along!

@DaveB hopefully this route/length fits your plans? There is an option to shorten by 1.5 miles on the return leg if we are short of time. @RobFactor👍 I've assumed you can cycle to/from Buckingham if you want to extend it!

@LucyChoules @DaveB what timings suit you? The rain eases off by midday? Happy to do a shorter ride perhaps setting off a bit later…?

All,
I am looking to arrange an away day cycling in the Peak District. The idea would be to leave Buckingham fairly early (7am?), drive up to Ashbourne, and ride a loop into the peaks from there.
The day is open to all but would depend on the level of interest and volunteers coming forward to organise rides for each level. I will arrange an A ride, which will feature a little climbing ;-) but all options can be catered for if people are interested.
Ideas for rides welcome - Ashbourne cycling club have a library that may be useful:
