Heading north this week, out through Silverstone and Blakesley, reaching some less familiar roads through Everdon and Hellidon, then back south through Byfield to our stop at Culworth Forge. A shorter leg home: south to Charlton then turning east to get the tail wind through Evenley. As with any Northants route it is a little bumpy.
Note that we pick up the A421 for 1.5 miles to Finmere given the scheduled road closure at Mixbury (and separately also at Chetwode, which was my first alternative). Any other suggestions welcome!
Weather forecast 7-10C cloudy and we will mainly have a westerly cross-wind (12mph).
Distance: 54.5 miles / 88km, with the cafe at 35 miles / 56.5km
Ascent: approx 2700 ft / 825m
Speed: 17-19mphIt would be great if you can join the ride; please sign up if you're coming along!

@StewartB - the junction of Church Lane and Featherbed Lane (between Mixbury and Fulwell) on your route home is due to be completely closed from tomorrow for a month; see:
https://www.hs2.org.uk/work-items/hs2-works-notification-temporary-road-closures-mixbury/
It’s going to be a bit of a limitation for our rides to the west!

No skin off my nose @John_walker74, makes sense and maybe we should re-use old rides more often! Looking forward to it

A little variety heading west, albeit reusing a route from last year:
We head into the wind, west as far as Bloxham, turning south to Sandford St Martin and then back via the Heyfords, calling in at Spokes for a coffee and hopefully a sausage roll if they have any left. The front-loaded route means a shorter return journey on familiar roads via Caversfield.
Distance: 83km / 51 miles, with the stop at 55km / 34 miles
Ascent: approx 700m / 2300 ft
Speed: 17 - 19mph, sticking togetherHope to see you on Sunday - please sign up if you're coming!

A slightly shorter route to start the New Year which may suit those who haven't been able to get out so much in December - or who need to get back home early, like me!
Not many teashops are open but Phoenix Kitchen at Claydon House is, and we have a few bumps on the way to get our legs working - but nothing too taxing. Those who fancy a longer route are welcome to extend the second leg, or you can head straight home from the cafe if time is tight.
Distance: 44 miles / 72km, with the stop at 29 miles / 47km
Ascent: approx. 550m / 1800 ft
Speed: around 17mphHope to see you out for the first ride of 2023 - please sign up if coming!

Similar to the Cs, we are trying out a new cafe at the Old Flight House, just north of Weston-on-the-Green. This is quite a front-loaded route (stop at 55km / 34 miles, two thirds of the ride in) as the cafe doesn't open until 11am, so you may want to bring a little nutrition for the outward leg.
The route heads south to the Claydons, skirts Quainton and goes up Ashendon Hill (climbing from the NE direction), crosses the midpoint of Muswell/Brill Hills at the crossroads, then down through Boarstall to a long flat stretch across Otmoor. We turn N at Islip and head to the cafe at Weston. Coming home is a straightforward run NE through Bucknell and Stratton Audley.
(Note - the road closure at Ashendon is due to finish on Friday, 25 Nov, so shouldn't be an obstacle!)
Distance: 82km / 51 miles, with the cafe at 55km / 34 miles
Ascent: approx 530m / 1700 ft
Speed: 17+ mphWeather forecast to be dry and moderate, with a SW-erly wind. Heavy rain is due the night before, so roads likely to be wet. I will probably be on my winter bike.
It would be great to see you on the ride - please sign up if so!

Sorry for the late posting but hopefully this will suit those A riders looking to ride off the curry from Wednesday! Heading northwest to a new cafe (for me) - The Mulberry Cafe in Cropredy: https://themulberrycafe.co.uk.
Heading out via Syresham, Culworth and Chipping Warden; back via Middleton Cheney, Croughton and Fringford. The way out goes past various HS2 works sites - I've checked one.network and can't see any road closures, but if anyone knows otherwise please tell me.
Weather looks ok, around 12C, wind 10mph from the SSW, and no prospect of rain until we are safely home.
Distance: 84km / 52 miles, with the cafe at 40 km / 25 miles
Ascent: approx 700m / 2300 ft
Speed: 17+ mphPlease sign up if coming and hopefully see you tomorrow?

Like the Bs, we are also heading to Waterperry but with a few more bumps, including a double ascent of Brill.
We head south through the Claydons, avoid Quainton and then up Waddesdon Hill. Through Chearsley, right at Long Crendon and up into Chilton before climbing up Leap Hill into Brill from the SW. Following the cafe stop at Waterperry we retrace our steps (wheels?), climbing Brill from Oakley and back home through Luggershall and Marsh Gibbon.
Distance: 92km / 57 miles, with the cafe at 51km / 31 miles
Ascent: approx 700m / 2300 ft
Speed: 17-19mph
Weather: dry, starting cool but warming up, southerly wind getting stronger to blow us homeHope you can join us on Sunday - please click "I'm Attending" if so!

It’s the meeting point in the Cayman Islands that puzzles me - @LucyChoules is this your residence for tax purposes?
Or we could carry straight on up the hill at Fulwell and we’ll be back by 10? 🤣
