Proposed stops:
For lunch, I suggest we stop at Pedallers Cafe:
https://pedallerscafe.co.ukIt appears to be a recommended cafe welcoming cyclists and open on Sunday from 10-4.
It is at mile 28.8 / 46.3km at Langbridge, Newchurch, PO36 0NP

No problem @Mikec - I was just worried that you’d signed up for the trip but not yet any of the rides. Hope the house move goes smoothly!

@Mikec would you like to sign up for one of the A, B or C rides - now available on the forum. There is also a WhatsApp group you are welcome to join!

Just a reminder to sign up to the relevant A/B/C ride - this may also allow a more targeted discussion on route options.
Based on previous experience, riding all around the island (around 60 miles) is feasible in a day (inc. stops) without requiring an A pace. But clearly it comes down to the appetite/interest of each group.

Some further thoughts on routes:
A ride: we will do the round-island route of 65 miles / 105km:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/2548849
See also attached GPX fileB ride: maybe this is a suitable route for you too, given it is an all day trip?
@KatieR - thanks for offering to help coordinate the C ride.
The following link may help - it shows the round island route but with a cut-off in the east (Alverstone to Havenstreet) that may make it a more suitable length? It also shows which roads to avoid (in orange) when planning a route.
https://www.visitisleofwight.co.uk/dbimgs/RTICycleMapNew.pdfI also propose to set up a dedicated WhatsApp chat group for the day trip to avoid spamming everyone else!
Finally, to reinforce @KatieR 's question - please let Katie know if you are doing the C ride!
I'm looking forward to this - it should be a great day out!

@PaulW you have the option to try out the new but partially complete Towcester bypass on your way back if you want, from the new A5 roundabout to the Wood Burcote Road on your way to Silverstone: some lovely smooth tarmac!

The A ride this week is a double stop ride. We first head north east to the Dragonfly Cafe at Harrold Odell Country Park. The return leg takes us to Silverstone to support Elaine with her cake sale at St Michael's Church Rooms in Silverstone as per the postings on the social forum. We will then pootle home - the posted route takes us directly back to Buckingham.
Please note that you will need cash to buy any refreshments at Silverstone!!! (But I assume that card/contactless will suffice at Harrold.)
Distance: 54 miles / 87km to Silverstone with the first cafe stop at 28.5 miles / 46km.
Plus 7.5 miles / 12km back to Buckingham making 61.5 miles / 99km in total.
Ascent: approx. 2800 ft / 850m
Speed: 17+ mph - with no dropped ridersHope this appeals - please sign up if you are coming - see you Sunday!

Will do. Thanks @PaulW

Here's the A ride route - noting the strong SW wind, we will head to Annie's Tea Room at Thrupp, a lovely cafe beside the Oxford Canal.
Not one of our hilliest routes but it does involve taking care on the A4260 Banbury Road north of Kidlington (the only road access to Thrupp), and navigating the roads leading to the A34 as we cross to Islip after the stop. We will then join the Merton expressway for a wind-assisted smash!
Also to note for the route, I intend that we turn right on Featherbed Lane and take the direct road to Cottisford. For some reason RidewithGPS won't let me select this road!
NB - if you bring a dog to the cafe you will get a free dog treat!
Distance: 53 miles / 86km, with the cafe just over half way at 28 miles / 45km
Ascent: approx. 1500 ft / 450m
Speed: 17+mph, no dropped ridersIt would be great to see you on the ride - please sign up if you're coming!

@KatieR definitely a good plan car sharing - we can coordinate in September for people travelling there and back on Sunday.
I'm not familiar with any nearby airbnbs - I would have thought anywhere in Lymington, Brockenhurst or Lyndhurst would be convenient. If anyone else has any suggestions, please comment!

Great to see so much interest in this away day! Not too late to sign up - please click I'm attending if you want to come.
Logistics-wise, we will look to catch the 9am ferry from Lymington. The crossing takes 40 mins. We need to arrive at least 15 mins in advance of departure which implies leaving Buckingham around 6:30.
https://www.wightlink.co.uk/plan-your-journey/timetables
Not completely clear whether it is necessary, but it will probably be easiest if we pre-book the crossing which we can each do individually nearer the time - having checked, we don't need specify the precise time we want for outbound and return legs.
Lymington Ferry Port, Undershore Road, Lymington, SO41 5SB
https://what3words.com/brilliant.cheer.puddingsLast point for now - we are looking for ride leaders to lead B and C rides. Guidance can be offered on routes if required - main role will be to decide the distance for the ride and coordinate it on the day.

@luke1809 you would be very welcome

This Sunday we have an all-club meet-up at the new Forge Cafe at Whittlebury Hall.
I am proposing a front-loaded route via Ravenstone and Stoke Bruerne that will involve an earlier start: 8:30am depart. This should get us to the cafe stop at a similar time to others, with a shorter route home via Nash. The weather looks favourable - please bring drink and nutrition to suit the ride.
I hope this works for anyone that would be interested in joining the A ride, but please let me know (either in the comments below or via WhatsApp to me) if it doesn't work.
Distance: 56 miles / 89km, with the stop not until 35 miles / 57km
Ascent: 2400 ft / 700m
Speed: 17+mph, no dropped ridersIt would be great to have A riders old and new join us - please sign up if so. It should be a good club event!

We may also stop for a coffee at Cowes, at mile 51.3 / 82.6km. Many cafes aren't open or close early on Sundays, so PO41 Coffee House Cowes looks a good option: it is open until 4pm, and our route takes us right past it, after having crossed the river, avoided the town centre, and rejoined the seafront.
