With the likelihood of rain and need for me to be home in good time (!) I have opted for a shorter ride this week but with some bumps en route to keep us keen. We head south to Stratton Audley, Marsh Gibbon and Piddington before the main course comprising Brill, Chilton, Ashendon and Cannon's Hill. Coffee stop at the G&D (Quainton) and a short run back to Buckingham.
Distance: 77 km / 48 miles, with the cafe at 56 km / 35 miles
Ascent: approx. 650m / 2100 feet
Pace - likely around 18mphHope you can join, remember your mask and to socially distance - and sign up if you are coming!
Note - currently assuming I will go out whatever the weather, but if it is really bad I may change my mind. Let me know what your thinking is below!

I am thinking of a slightly longer ride this weekend to take in Tysoe Hill and Edge Hill, especially with the weather looking good and a lighter wind for the first time in a few weeks.
Proposed route is out via Charlton, Adderbury, Tadmarton, take in Tysoe Hill and Edge Hill before stopping off at the National Herb Centre. Back via Cropedy, Sulgrave and Syresham.
Length: 103km / 64 miles, with the cafe at 64km / 40 miles
Ascent: approx. 1000m / 3400 feetLet me know if you have any comments - hopefully this ride appeals? And please sign up if interested!
Note also that we are no longer outcasts so no need to meet up at meeting point A, we will meet in the general mêlée with the other rides at Swan Pool. But please continue to bring a mask for the coffee stop.

@James_R looks good to me and has the advantage that we can divert home early if the weather turns really bad. Let's go for that.
Summary:
Length: 55 miles / 89km, with the stop at 29 miles / 46 km.
Ascent: approx 680m / 2200 ft.
Pace 17-19 mph (no dropped riders).Reminders: bring a mask, socially distance, meeting point A and click Yes, I'm Attending if coming.

@MartinG Absolutely - great to have you join the ride! See you tomorrow.

Thanks for your patience. As mentioned, we will head to Waterperry to meet up with the Bs, heading into a strong SSW wind on the way out and enjoying the benefit on the way back.
Heading out via Gawcott, Steep Claydon, Grendon Underwood and the Tramway climb into Brill before the stop at Waterperry. Slightly longer route on the way home via Stanton St John, Islip, Ambrosden, Marsh Gibbon, Stratton Audley and Gawcott.
Hopefully I have avoided road closures (I think Gawcott is still passable) but if anyone spots any issues please let me know.
Length: 57 miles / 92km, with the stop at 25 miles / 40 km.
Ascent: approx 750m / 1800 ft.
Pace 17-19 mph (no dropped riders).Reminders: bring a mask, socially distance, meeting point A and click Yes, I'm Attending if coming.
Hope to see you on Sunday!

Recommended straightforward cafe, operating from a kiosk with outdoor chairs at the moment, visited in April 2021. Cakes and breakfast options. Run by the same people as Salcey Forest. Head into the park (past the entrance gate) from the main road, cafe is about 0.5km into the park in a building with an outdoor shelter. Olney Rd, Emberton, Olney MK46 5FJ

Highly recommended from a stop on 9 May 2021, and very convenient for riding up/down the beacon itself! Cakes and breakfast options, outdoor seating, with fence around so pretty safe for bikes. Currently open every day from 10am until 2/3/4pm (varies by day). Old tiny school building in the centre of the village, 2 High Street, Ivinghoe, LU7 9EX.

Placeholder for the A ride. Given the weather forecast, we will almost certainly head south/southwest, and I am currently thinking that we will head to Waterperry to meet the Bs, but via a different route. Please sign up if interested, and stay tuned for the route (probably post Friday/Saturday).
Look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am taking advantage of the wind to use one of them and go somewhere new - Grounds Cafe at Emberton Country Park.
We leave Buckingham heading north, through Silverstone and Blakesley, then turning east through Pattishall, Blisworth, Salcey Forest, Stoke Goldington, and Olney for the stop. Back on similar route to last week, through Gayhurst, Wolverton and Deanshanger.
Length: 56 miles / 90km, with the stop at 36 miles / 59 km.
Ascent: approx 750m / 2450 ft.
Pace 17-19 mph (no dropped riders).Reminders: bring a mask, socially distance, meeting point A and click Yes, I'm Attending if coming.
Hope to see you on Sunday. Please let me know if any questions or any problems with the route!

Thanks for the ideas, will give it some thought.
@luke1809 don’t know if I trust the Bike Bus - it claimed it was open last weekend, but wasn’t. Are you certain it will open?

Placeholder for A ride on Sunday. With a north-easterly wind, will probably head back to Salcey Forest unless anyone can suggest any alternative cafe stops in that direction? (@PatH🚴🏻 ...?) In any case, I will plan a route that uses different roads from our recent trips so please come along and enjoy the ride!
Will confirm route in the next few days.

@DaveB good to have you along and you’ll be fine! Quicker than me for one thing.
This Sunday it is our whole-club solstice event, where we try and get as many people to join as possible and meet up as a whole club at the cafe. And we have something very special - a 100 mile clover leaf ride with three loops out and back to Buckingham, with the cafe stop on the second loop at Westbury, where all rides will meet up at around 11am. It would be great to have as many A riders join as possible to make it a special club event. (And if you cannot commit to the full time needed for 100 miles, there is the option say of just riding two loops.)
Length: 100 miles / 162km
Ascent: approx. 3400 feet / 1000m
Pace: probably at the lower end of our 17-19 mph range
Question for potential A riders - would you prefer:
a) Meet up at 7:30am for a 7:40 start, cafe at 11am / 55 miles, finish around 2:30-3pm*
b) Meet up at 8:30am for an 8:40 start, cafe at 11am / 38 miles, finish around 3:30-4pm*
*Very approximate - depends on cafe stop time, any other stops, legs, etc
My preference would be (a) but please let me know what you think, I'm happy to do either.
I hope you can come - and please sign up if so!
Note - while the loops are fixed, the order/direction we do them depends on the choice above. Attached is the route assuming option (a) - so to be confirmed.
