As tradition tells us - It’s time for a whole club meet up at the George and Dragon at Quainton. Why? Because it’s the Spring Equinox of course!
A straight forward route for the B’s aiming to meet at the G&D at 10:30. One challenge for an otherwise flat route - Poundon hill, providing the opportunity to put a fitness marker down in the early season.
The stop is at 36km and the whole club will ride back together on a route chosen by consensus on the day.
I’m treating this as a social, so please don’t be put off - I’ll be leading from the back

A club ride? - really? - let’s try again ...
The weather looks like it’s calming down ready for the weekend.
I thought we should head East into the wind (It’s then downhill with a following breeze all the way home)The Artyard at Church Enstone beckons
I also want to have a quick look at Bakergirl café in Great Tew
53 miles and a chance for regular B riders to join the A ride – remember no-one gets dropped
Rolling route - 1800ft total ascent - I’ll be happy with 16-17mph average (did you know the B ride often averages faster than the A ride? - Outrageous!)
Some chance of rain - may even see the sun - 8ºC maxWho’s in? Click “I’m attending”

*** UPDATE ***
We have a plan …
Sunday 19th May 2019One route - 2 rides
50 miles for everyone
As we are a large group (18 riders) we are spitting the ride to our first stop into two with a 20min gap - suggestion is that faster riders go second.Meet at and depart from Bristol City Council Carpark, Oldfield Place, Bristol, BS8 4QJ
at around 9am (leaving Buckingham (Gandertons (Swan) Garage) on London Road))
NB 2m height restriction at the carpark - looks like there is space on the road side to load/unload roof mounted bikes)We will all meet up at The Almshouse Tea Shop in Axbridge at about 10:45 - 11:00 after a fairly flat 1st half for tea and buns
(see map and profile below - Axbridge is at the 40k mark)
The Almshouse Tea Shop
MenuFrom here the intention is for the whole group (again may be sensible to split slightly) to ride up Cheddar Gorge with a tail wind and on towards Bristol for fish and chips.
Note - you can change after the ride in the vans
We have kind offers of transport from members (suggest that everyone pays the driver a £10er)
John G - Van. 5 passengers, 6 bikes
Adam P - Van. 5 passengers, 6 bikes
James T - Car. 4 passengers, 3 bikes
Anton - Car. 3 from Claydon, 3 bikes
Jeff - Car. making his own way there, 1 bikeHow does that sound?

Following the success of Isle of Wight last September ...
Sounding out interest in a club ride from Bristol south towards and through Cheddar Gorge.Looking for a show of hands at this stage, no need to commit.
Likely dates are - May 5, May 19 or June 2
We will be asking for volunteer drivers (with racks) once again, with the view that passengers will chip in some fuel money.Possible route here - can also plan a shorter route if required
53 miles - 2500ft ascending (700 through the gorge alone - otherwise rolling at worst)

I have a 55 mile delight for you this weekend
Stripes Bikes & Bakes in Woburn SandsThe stop is just after 30 miles
Small chance of rain on our depart - but should dry out quickly
Temp building from 6ºC to a tropical 13ºC
5mph wind from the SW
55 miles, 2300ft climbing total, 3(ish) hours plus the stop?Note (just in case you were thinking about your summer bike), there is an optional stretch (third of a mile) of hardpack trail through the woods - if it’s dry it should be ok.
I have a plan B and a plan C if we don’t fancy it when we get there.No-one gets dropped (apart from me)
