I don’t think it’s safe to cycle in 35mph wind and rainHello Wheelers,
Due to a few members being away or participating in the RideLondon event (best of luck, you lucky people) We will be combining the A and B rides and taking a trip up to Salcey Forest.
Pace will be B ride bracket
I’ve gone for a 45 miler with 1600ft total ascent
should take 3 hours plus a slice of cakePlease hit the I’m attending button so I can plan accordingly
Many thanks, see you on Sunday if I don’t get to Friday’s social -
-
It’s Oxford …
… but not Café Bonjour - we will go to Jacobs & Field just around the corner
We will be observing the 16+ mph average - strong B riders welcome
no dropped riders - attacking climbs optional (as long as you wait at the top for the group)We have an option on Tram Hill - Brill on the way out
52 Miles
1700ft (675m) ascending
1700ft descending :)Who’s around on Sunday?

This ride is now on Friday
Following on from last week’s moderate success - we’re going for another evening ride out.
Same destination (Red Lion, Evenley) but different route - 33miIt’s a social affair so we will go at the pace of the slowest rider - 25miles gets us to the Red Lion for a swift half with a quick blast back to Buckingham
Important - please indicate your attendance either on here or on the Swans Facebook page
many thanks see you there, or be square

A ride going to the George and Dragon to meet the Leisure and B’s for tea/coffee and a subsidised slice of cake - we are good to you.
The route is now carefully planned - mixture of the usual variations and couldn’t resist the climb up to Ashendon. It’s all down hill on the relatively short run back to Buckingham (honest)
(sorry - having upload nightmare - please download the correct route below)Weather looks pretty good - and there’s free cake! what’s stopping you?
Opportunity for a full club photo alsoClick that "I’m Attending button”
See you there -

Somewhere new for the A’s this week. (One or two of us have done a recon run)
Artyard Cafe, EnstoneWill finalise route on Thursday when the weather settles again - will be similar (if not identical to the above.
55 miles - nothing too taxing, 5% is our biggest gradient
Click the button - see you Sunday if not before

Following in Malcolm’s tyre tracks, this weeks B ride is a jaunt around the local area to Turweston for a slice of cake at the airfield. (I’ve still never been)
40 miles
Nothing big to climb, just the odd roller in south northants
Weather forecast is lovely (may even need sunscreen)
14-16mph averageClick the I’m attending button - see you there
Thanks for all the feedback.
Looks like the majority of those that are interested can do the 16th
So that’s the date (sorry Wolfgang)
We currently have 2 offers to drive - covering 7 participants with 5 people currently interested and available.
Can I stress this trip is open to everyone - don’t be shy, get your name down and we’ll plan routes accordingly. Please click the I’m attending button even if you are a possibility and we’ll do whatever we can to accommodate.
Paul and I have been busy behind the scenes cooking up an away-day.
Initially thoughts were around heading North with options around Shakespeare country.
However - triggered by a conversation with other members on recent rides, the idea of a trip to the Isle of Wight emerged. We figured if we are prepared to travel, lets go the extra mile and make it something unusual for us landlocked middle Englanders
The proposal
A day trip, because it makes logistics easy and keeps costs down
2 route options 65 miles and 45 miles approx
starting and ending in Yarmouth
Logistics
Cross to Yarmouth IoW from Lymington (as it’s less busy and more civilised than Southampton)
Example ferry cost is £87 inc 4 passengers per vehicle (5m vehicle over 2.24m high) - may be able to get group discount. We would look to divide all costs evenly amongst participants - est. £25-£30 including some petrol money
Timetable, something like:
Leave Buckingham at 7 heading towards the ferry at Lymington
2 hours travel time
40min ferry
4 hours cycle plus stop
40min ferry
2 hours back to Buckingham for 7ish
Dates
A choice:
September – 16 or 23
note the 23rd is Autumn equinox - so this could be an alternative to the all club ride (or we do that the week after)
What would be great is a show of hands to gauge interest (please click the I’m attending button)
and leave a comment including:
Your preferred date,
Distance,
If you would be willing to drive (number of bikes and passengers you can carry),
Or if you would like a lift
Pleas also feel free to leave any other thoughts in your post
We can then do some detailed planning to make it all happen
