Folks,
Can't promise the weather is going to be as good as last weekend, but at the time of writing it’s set to be dry, around 10°C and with the wind from the west.
Plan is to ride in a westerly direction as far as Bloxham before we turn around and head for our cafe stop at Limes Farm Farthinghoe at 34 miles. We then head back towards Buckingham via Sulgrave, Wappenham and Syresham. Terrain will be mixed with mostly fairly quick flat roads but also some more 'rolling' terrain. Total distance 55 miles.
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/20214228
Pace will be 16+ mph with regular rotations to help maintain a sustainable pace for all. As always B riders are more than welcome to give the A ride a go.
Hope to see you Sunday, and would be great if you can click the I'm attending tab if you can make it.

Hi Folks,
As its the first Sunday of the month its a combined A and B Gran Fondo. Wind it set to blow from the NE, and in order to avoid a return visit to Salcey Forest for the B riders, destination will be the Old Diary at Upper Stowe. It is going to be 'rolling' terrain on way out to the Cafe Stop at 35 miles, but return leg will be easier. Overall distance is 60 miles, pace will be determined by the slowest rider but expect around 15 mph average.
Weather is set to be dry, light winds from the NE, and temperature around 10 deg C.
Destination: Old Dairy Upper Stowe
Distance: 60 miles
Pace: 15+ mph
Duration: ride time 4hrs plus stop
Gradients: Rolling with 2300 ft of climbinghttps://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/23320768
Please note the earlier start time of 8:15 for an 8:30 start. Hope to see you Sunday, be great to have a good turn out of A and B riders. If you can make it please hit the I'm attending button.

Hi folks,
Looks like Sunday is set to be rather cold, but should at least be dry with light winds from the North. So planning to head north to Harley Equestrian. As you might expect terrain will be 'rolling' but route is at the shorter end of A ride distances at 48 miles.
Destination: Harley Equestrian
Distance: 48 miles
Pace: 16 + mph
Duration: ride time 3hrs plus stop
Gradients: Rolling with 1750 ft of climbinghttps://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/22293396
Route heads initially east out to Charlton, then heads NW up to Culworth and then onward to Woodford Halse. After the cafe stop we head to Preston Capes then onward to Maidford, Blakesley, Abthorpe, Silverstone and back to Buckingham. Pace around 16mph, but as always no dropped riders.
Hope to see you Sunday.

Hi Folks,
Its the Spring Equinox A ride this week, so all the rides are heading out to the G&D at Quainton.
Reasonably flat 28 miles route out to Quainton with just one significant climb up Poundon Hill. The return leg plan is for all rides to return together on the same route (~11 miles) to Buckingham. So plan will be to press on fairly hard on the outward leg, maybe getting a pace line going if conditions allow, and then having a nice easy recovery ride back into Buckingham. Expect 17+ mph avg on the outward leg, return leg pace determined by the slowest rider.
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/23050589
Weather conditions are looking good for Sunday, with current forecast as of Wednesday around 7 deg C with light winds and dry.
Hope to see you Sunday. If you can make it please click the I'm attending button.

All,
High winds are currently forecast for Sunday, with gusts above 40 mph forecast from 12 onward. Unless the forecast improves the A/B Gran Fondo ride will be cancelled. Will review forecast again Sat AM.
Assuming the ride can go ahead, route as per last week.
Planning to head in a westerly direction to the Artyard Cafe at Enstone via Croughton, Deddington, Hook Norton and onward to Enstone for our cafe stop at 34 miles. We then turn for home via Great Tew, North Aston, Souldern, Cottisford, Finmere and onward to Buckingham. Terrain will be 'rolling' mainly at the westerly end of the ride, with an overall ascent of 2000 ft, so not too much ascent in total.
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/22746000
The ride is open to both A and B riders, and as the first GF of 2019 focus is to achieve a steady pace so we can all finish comfortably with no dropped riders. Expect average pace will be around 15-16 mph.
Please note the earlier start time of 8:15AM for an 8:30AM start.
Please click the 'I'm attending' button if you can make it. Be great to see a decent turn out of A and B riders for the first GF of 2019, assuming the weather allows the ride to proceed.

Cancelled due to high winds forecast
Hi,
It's the first A/B GF ride of 2019, and as such I've aimed for a GF ride that's hopefully not too challenging, but still a step up in distance from our normal rides, and a few new roads.
Weather forecast for Sunday is not too bad considering its the start of March, temperature around 8 deg C with wind from the SW, and a 60% chance of rain. As it's 35 miles to the cafe stop best having some food in your jersey.
The ride is open to both A and B riders, and as the first GF of 2019 focus is to achieve a steady pace so we can all finish comfortably with no dropped riders. Expect average pace will be around 15-16 mph.
*Please note the earlier start time of 8:15AM for an 8:30AM start.*
Please click the 'I'm attending' button if you can make it. Be great to see a decent turn out of A and B riders for the first GF of 2019.

Hi Folks,
Fingers crossed, but looks like it's not going to blow a gale or freeze on Sunday morning, so forget the Turbo trainer as an A ride is on the cards. Forecast at time of writing is around 5 degrees, 30% chance of rain, with wind in a generally SW direction.
Thinking a fairly flat ride is in order since we have not managed an A ride for some time. So plan to head for Waterperry Garden, as usual no dropped riders.
Destination: Waterperry Gardens
Distance: 51 miles
Pace: 16 mph+
Duration: ride time 3hrs 30min; plus our stop
Gradients: Fairly flathttps://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/19427691
Hope to see you on Sunday , and please click I'm attending if you can make it.

CANCELLED due to high winds forecast...
As the forecast is for gusts up to +45mph, ride cancelled reluctantly on safety grounds. Sorry folks.**
As per Paul's comments on the B ride, the weather forecast for Sunday is not looking great. Cold at around 3 deg C, 20% chance of rain and of most concern the wind, with gusts around 40mph forecast. If the weather forecasts worsens, particularly the wind, likely the A ride will be cancelled and the forum will be updated.
Assuming we have sufficient numbers that it makes sense to run a separate A and B ride, the A ride will also head to Harley Equestrian as per the B ride, but over a slightly longer route. If numbers are low, the A ride will join the B ride to make sure we have sufficient riders to share the work into the wind.
Destination: Harley Equestrian
Distance: 53 miles
Pace: 16 mph+ Avg.
Duration: ride time 3 hrs 30min plus the stop,
Gradients: Rollinghttps://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/22293396
The roads are really mucky at the moment, so mudguards much appreciated.
Hope to see you Sunday.

Forecast is looking reasonable for Sunday with a 10% chance of rain and about 8°C. Wind is from the West so planning to head out in that direction. Destination this week is the Artyard café at Enstone, which I don’t think the A ride has visited for some time. The route is plagiarised from one of Paul W’s rides.
Destination: Artyard Cafe, Enstone
Distance: 55 miles
Pace: 16 mph Ave.
Duration: 4 hrs incl. café stop
Gradients: Rollinghttps://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/20347306
Hope to see you on Sunday. Please click the I’m attending button if you can make it.

Hi Folks,
Hope everyone had a good Christmas and ready to burn up some of the excess calories on the last A ride of 2018.
Weather forecast is looking pretty good with only a 10% chance of rain and fairly light winds from the west. So plan is to head in a generally westerly direction heading on familiar roads up to Syresham, Culworth, Aston Le Walls and on to the climb at Fenny Compton. From there we head to Farnborough, Mollington, Cropredy and across to the coffee stop at Limes farm (Farthinghoe). From there a familiar route back to Buckingham via Evenly, Finmere etc. Total distance 55 miles and 1800 ft of ascent. Best have some food in your pocket as its 40 miles to the cafe.
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/19649359
As no doubt Christmas will have done some damage, expect a steady pace close to 16 mph. One climb at Fenny Compton but it's not too long or severe. As always no dropped riders.
Hope you can make it and please click the 'I'm attending' button if you are joining the ride.
Thanks,
Phil

Update: Going to run a combined A/B ride this week, following the B ride route. Pace set by slowest rider on the day. Wrap up warm, it's set to be very cold.
Hi folks.
Weather is looking OK for Sunday, cold but should be dry. As the wind is from the south I thought we could head to Waterperry Gardens. Route is generally pretty flat, but added one climb at Brill for added interest on the outward leg.
Destination: Waterperry Gardens
Distance: 51 miles
Pace: 16 mph+ (Most likely around 17 mph)
Duration: ride time 3hrs plus cafe stop
Gradients: Generally flat aside from one climb at BrillGarmin Route: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/19438906
As always stronger B riders welcome, won't be a Northants hilly sufferfest this week. Mudguards appreciated at this time of year.
If you can make it please click 'I'm attending', hope to see you Sunday.

Route update
Folks, bit of a school boy error on my part.Waterside Cafe does not open until 11AM in the winter, and I expect we would hit the cafe stop at around 10:30 AM. So posting an alternative route with a diversion over to Salcey Forest to meet up with the B ride. Distance increases to 56 miles, hopefully that's OK with folks. If not can discuss in the morning and revert to the original route. I'll have both routes downloaded.

Hi Swans,
See post for new route. Route updated to Salcey Forest due to late opening of Waterside Cafe. Distance increased to 56 miles**
Weather forecast for Sunday is looking like it should be dry but fairly cold with the wind from ENE. Plan is to head out in a a general NE direction to Stoke Bruene stopping at the Water Side Cafe. Terrain is generally rolling as we head out to Stoke Bruene but the return leg will be easier with hopefully a tail wind to push us along.
Destination: Stoke Bruerne Waterside Cafe
Distance: 48 miles
Pace: 16+ mph (Dependent on the group, but likely pace ~ 17 mph)
Duration: ride time 3 hrs plus stop
Gradients: 1850 ft of ascentRoute: Heading North to Silverstone, Blakesley, Maidford, Pattishall, Blisworth and then to the Cafe stop at Stoke Bruerne. Return leg we head Paulerspury, Deanshanger, Beachhampton, Thornborough, Padbury and in to Buckingham.
Garmin Route: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/21536518
Weather forecast: Sunny, 5 - 8 degrees, wind ENE 15 mph

Folks,
Weather for Sunday looks set to be dry with light winds from the E. So planning to head across to Salcey Forest via a northerly route over typical Northants rolling terrain reaching the cafe stop at 33 miles. Following the Cafe stop we head back for home with about 20 miles to complete over easier terrain. Total distance 52 miles and 2200 ft of climbing.
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/21536518
Pace will be around 17 mph and continuing from last weeks ride working on our group riding skills.
Hope to see you Sunday, and would be great if you can click the I'm attending tab if you can make it.
