Further to the above Stephen asked a question about club TT's, the answer was:
Basically you don't need a BC licence or be a member of a club like NBRC to enter their events... Turn up, sign-on as a Swan, pay your entry fee (£5) which includes CTT insurance and go....From the NBRC site: What is a ‘club event’? Club time trials are rather more low key. In the case of the NBRC, we publish the calendar of events early in the year. If you want a ride, you just turn up on the evening and sign on, pin on your number. Usually our events have 30 or fewer riders, and all are open to beginners to come and try time trialling. It’s a pretty friendly and easy way to get a hang of the sport.
Their 2016 event list is available as detailed above and details of the courses
Next one for me will be Sat 19th March, Stoke Hammond Bi-pass..

Further conversations on route today for some local TT events for the Swans to have a look at doing this year. As previously explained I do the North Bucks events when I can so to answer the further interest of of when the local events are and where plus the course details please follow the the to following links:
These you can enter as a Swans member.. http://northbucksroadclub.org.uk/index.php/club-events/2015-club-events/777-club-event-calendar-2016 http://northbucksroadclub.org.uk/index.php/club-events/courses
Also we have the Bicester (Weston -on the- Green) to consider too.Once the CTT bible is out I'll introduce you to more possible course, dates etc..
Again follow this link to their site for much more TT information but the events for 2016 is yet to be populated. http://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/events
But note the Swans will have to be affiliated first or you can join (second claim) and enter through a affiliated club like the Bossards & NBRC and name a couple.Club entry Subscriptions for the CTT are due on 1st October in respect of the ensuing year. Clubs shall be deemed to have resigned from membership if the subscription is unpaid on 31st December. Such clubs upon re-applying for membership before 1st October shall pay a rejoining fee of £20 in addition to the annual affiliation subscription. the fees rise to £80 for clubs with kit sponsorship/name... ooophs
Once we get into the year we will have to get some training rides organised for those interested
I hope that this helps and just shout if you need more info.

Yep the off road trip was for a great introduction to MTB riding for a roadie! More would be good either locally or a afar?
There has been some nattering about venturing afar for some road trips, Derbyshire was one discussed I remember but maybe a more local trip too & ride around the Cotswolds for starters?
Like you said Danny any other ideas welcome? -

I've been thinking about the other "Spring Cup" RR post as maybe a challenging enter point into the discipline?
So I had a chat with me mate Trev for further information on this subject, he is a member of the LVRC (League of Veteran Racing Cyclists) ".....provides racing for cyclists who are veterans. To be eligible to join you must be 40 years of age or more; the League is open equally to male and female bike racers.....".If you fancy further info go to http://www.lvrc.org.uk/ and we are located in Region 7. For examples of what they are about have a look at the 2015 calendar and I'm told that there will be more events next year? You will see that there was a few open road events available and for me more importantly they use the MK Bowl on a Tuesday evening during the season.
So my thoughts are that if you fancy entering the fray of this discipline, the hustle & bustle that is road racing that the MK Bowl venue would be the better place to getting started? That's before entering any full blown road events.
The LVRC is I'm reliable informed also a cheaper alternative to join and race entries than British Cycling who also use the MK Bowl but on a Thursday.

Are you talking about the event run by the Hemel Cycling Club,
2 races 1) Spring chicken & 2) Roy Thame cup run in March?
Details at http://www.hemelcycling.org.uk/events/spring-road-races.
Looks interesting, would be the cat 3/4, 77k race 1 for us I expect?
Or something else?
Hi All, this is the route for this Sundays Ride,
Please remember that we now meet at the Swan Pool, 8:45 for 9:00 get away.

Going to need to wrap-up warm for this weeks rides, we are making our way to Farthinghoe all being well, also please carry some food in your pocket plus a drink on board. Personally need to be back just after 12 so will keep the stop to a minimum, I hope that's ok.
Below freezing temperatures to start with so as I've said wrap up warm, also watch this space just in case, should be ok but we never know?
Thanks and see you then
Paul
