🌲🦌 Well here we are, the last club ride before Christmas🦌🌲.
Plus it is a Solstice ride, when all the rides meet up at the same cafe to celebrate together as a club, also providing an opportunity to try out one of the other rides back. There is of course the added incentive of FREE CAKE with your ☕️, if you need any further encouragement.🎅Route: Gawcott, Lenborough, Padbury Mill, Steeple Claydon, Middle Claydon, Botolph Claydon, Granborough, North Marston, Oving, Pitchcott, Quainton[G&D], Botolph Claydon, East Claydon, Padbury Brook, Lenborough, Gawcott, Buckingham
https://www.strava.com/routes/22998621Weather: 🎄 Overcast with Sunny periods, slight chance of a shower. Temperature 5-7 deg with a moderate wind from the West.

Weather good for this time of year, so a ride to Thrift Farm is on the cards this week, with a total distance of 32 miles.
Riding as much as possible through the winter will pay dividends in the spring with the return of warmer weather. You will maintain your fitness, and surprise yourself how you are able to surpass your best effort this year.Route: Gawcott, Lenborough, Padbury brook, Padbury, Combs, Thornborough, Thornton, Beachampton, Lower, Middle, Upper Weald, Whaddon, Thrift Farm, Whaddon, Nash, Thornton, Leckhampstead, Foscote, Maids Moreton, Buckingham.

Clothing wise, It will still feel cold so wrap up warm, with protection for fingers, toes and head.
As always, make life easy for yourselves and fellow riders, carry a spare inner tube and tools. In cold conditions you want to minimise the time stood around losing your body heat. Bring a drink for the journey, and change for the refreshment stop, to get a hot drink ☕ possibly 🥓 too.
Helmets must be worn.
We meet in the carpark by the cyclerack at 08:45 to sign on, for a 09:00 start.
I hope to see you on Sunday, for another leisurely ride through the Bucks countryside.Malcolm 07549 226898

A change of Scenery this week as we head South for the flatter roads of Buckinghamshire. Meeting up with the C ride at Twyford Community cafe, providing you the opportunity to mix and match your ride with elements of both rides.
Both rides will be returning the same route, so if you have extended yourselves with the C's, on the return you can ease off and get picked up by the Leisure ride following on behind.
Please let the ride leader you are signed with know you are swapping rides, so we do not want to mislay anyone.Route:
Gawcott, Preston Bissett, Chetewode, Stratton Audley, Marsh Gibbon, Twyford, Calvert, Steeple Claydon, Padbury Mill, Lenborough, Gawcott, Buckingham.
https://www.strava.com/routes/22711728Weather:
A return to slightly warmer temperatures 9-10 deg., still cold enough to wrap up, but not as bad as the last couple of weeks. With the warmer temp also comes a higher risk of a shower, so do carry a shower top 'just in case'. Winds are moderate (10-12) from the South, to give us a gentle push home. There is still a fair amount of standing water around, please fit mudguards if you have them, to protect your clubmates from being spattered. Also be aware of the mud and gravel making the roads that little bit more slippy. Please carry a spare innertube or repair kit, as the risk of a puncture is higher with debris washed on the road.
As always, a helmet is not just good sense, it is mandatory on club rides. If you are around, come along and join me or indeed one of the other rides, leaving the Swan Pool at 09:00 this Sunday.
Hope t0 see you there.

Following on in the series of rides traversing around the North of Buckingham, showing you alternative routes that interlink, to provide you with a diversity of roads you can choose to make up your own route.
This weeks ride is a shorter route of 24 miles, for those times when you want to get out, but be back in a couple of hours.Route:
Maides Moreton, Foscote, Leckhampstead, Wicken, Wappenham, Silverstone, Dadford, Stowe Vistor Centre, Chackmore, Buckingham.
https://www.strava.com/routes/22547807Weather:
Is now looking dry but temp 5-7c, feeling colder.
<5% chance of rain now, wind from the North 10-11mph.Wear warm gloves and socks/overshoes if you have them, you will need them. A jacket may be a sensible option this week with a warm baselayer. We are not out for long, so overdressed is better than freezing.
A head covering preferably to include your ears is advisable, and of course a helmet.Do bring a drink for the journey, and a snack if your energy requires a boost. We will be stopping at Stow Visitor Centre for a warm drink and a treat before returning down Stowe avenue to complete the ride.
Looking forward to your company once again on Sunday.

Another journey North, building on the route travelled last week, to show you options if you venture this way independantly. We did actually ride this route in the reverse direction for the Daisy Ellis ride, but a change in direction gives you a different perspective and experience.
Route:
Maids Moreton, Bycell Road, Lillingstone Lovell, Whittlebury, Silverstone, Abthorpe, Wappenham, Syresham, Biddlesden, Welch Lane, Boycott Farm[cafe], Chackmore, Buckingham.
https://www.strava.com/routes/22462522Weather:
Cloudy with some sun coming through as the morning progresses, slight chance of a shower. Wind from the West, moderate at 10-12, gusting 20-25. Temperature 8-10 deg. so very much as it has been recently. If like me you need to get out and get your exersize fix, wrap up with layers you can shed as you warm up, or the sun comes out, whichever comes first. Do wear gloves and keep your feet well insulated, as this is where you feel the cold the most. Please wear a helmet - you will not be allowed to ride with us if you don't.
We do have options with the cafe, Turweston Airfield, Boycott Farm, or Stowe Visitor Centre...you can decide!
All options are well into the ride, so bring a drink for the journey and a snack if you need an energy boost.I look forward to your company once again on Sunday.

Another 30mile route, Northwest this week to another new cafe...Brackley Central...the old railway station. To achieve this while keeping the distance down I have had to make some compromises, but we will cover in some of the gaps in the area travelled around Buckingham for Leisure rides.
Route:
Chackmore, Biddlesden, Syresham, Wappenham, Helmdon, Brackley, Evenley, Mixbury, Turweston, Finmere, Gawcott, Buckingham
https://www.strava.com/routes/22363566Weather:
The Forecast is looking good with sunshine, and <5% of rain. Temperatures starting low and peaking at 10c midday, althought the windchill will make it feel colder. Wind from the Northwest at 9mph gusting 15.So do wrap up warm, with plenty of layers you can shed as it warms up. Pay particular attention to fingers and toes. Bring along a drink, we will stop en-route to take on fluids and a snack if you need it.
Please carry a spare inner tube, or puncture repair kit. In case the worst happens with all the grit being washed on the road. And of course...wear a helmet, as you will not be allowed to join us if you don't.
For some, the C ride may be a good option, please check it out.
If not, I look forward to you joining me on Sunday to see what you think of this cafe, and route. -
Stu for reference, I have warned Evenley that we have two rides converging on them on Sunday...
Morning Malcolm,Sorry about the phone number error, I will get it changed! For reference, Evenley’s phone number is 01280 841798.
Of course it’s fine with us! Coffee and cake will be waiting for you all!
Kind regards,
Rose

This week I will be taking you to a newly opened cafe, that we can use in a variety of rides in a good cycling area. So after the downpour last week, I hope you are all chomping at the bit to stretch those legs a little. This route is relatively flat, so would suit riders who have been thinking of joining us, but haven't taken the plunge yet.
With a note to weather...yes the warm short sleeved rides have left us now, and we need to wrap up a little warmer. But this has not stopped the enjoyment of taking in the scenery, and the feel good factor you get from exersize, not forgetting the good company.Route:
Gawcott, Lenborough, Padbury Mill, Herds Hill, Steeple Claydon, Twyford, Poundon Hill, Stratton Audley, Fringford, Cottisford, Evenley[Forge cafe], Mixbury, Twyford, Gawcott, Buckingham.
https://www.strava.com/routes/22260151Weather:
Cloud with sunny intervals, dry, with temperature just into double figures, but feeling less. So, long sleeves and tights are sensible. But do take care not to overdress, as once underway you will generate a lot of body heat, which is hard to dissipate if wrapped up too much. Layering is the best option, then you can alter your clothing en route.
With grit being washed on the road by the rain, you are more likely to puncture. So please carry a spare inner tube/repair kit, just in case. You may not get as thirsty as summer, but still need to replenish fluid, do bring a drink for the journey.
Finally, helmets must be worn, you will not be allowed to ride with us if you are not wearing one.
I hope to see you all on Sunday, and looking forward to showing you to this new cafe.

The forecast for this Sunday is looking wet, so please keep a weather eye on the forecast, as I will cancel the ride if it stays unreasonably wet {:-o)
This weeks ride is a circular route heading Northwest and looping Westerly round to the South of Buckingham, stopping at Twyford Community cafe, before returning back to the start.
The C ride is also planning a route to the same cafe. So, for those who feel like pushing a little harder, there will be an opportunity to ride with the C group all, or just part of the way.Route: Chackmore, Shalstone, Shelswell, Stratton Audley, Poundon, Twyford[cafe], Steeple Claydon, Padbury Mill, Lenborough, Gawcott, Buckingham.
https://www.strava.com/routes/21887411Weather forecast: 40% chance of rain, feeling like 13-14 deg., wind 15 gusting 28 from the SW.
So, wrap up warm and have a wet weather jacket, and overshoes if you have them.
Do bring a drink for the journey, and a snack to keep your energy level up.
A puncture repair kit/spare inner tube to suit your bike is advisable, as we are heading into the season when sharp objects will get washed onto the road.I really do not wish to deterr you from riding. I want you to enjoy your rides, and to be prepared if the weather is not ideal.
Hopefully, I will see you on Sunday.

A new cafe for you to enjoy this week, and the good news is that you will arrive there after 15 miles, yay!
We will be riding to Stoke Bruerne Canal Museum cafe, on a relatively flat route for this area. I have been wanting to take you to this destination for a few weeks now, and feel that you will enjoy the distance, given the forecast for full sun and warm conditions.Route: Maids Moreton, Foscote, Leckhamstead, Church End, Paulespury, Pury End, Shutlanger, Stoke Bruerne(cafe), Shutlanger, Whittlebury, Lillingston Lovell, Bycell Rd, Maids Moreton, Buckingham.
https://www.strava.com/routes/21655637Weather: Full sun, warm 15-18 deg. with light wind from the SSW.
Please bring a drink for the journey, and a snack to give your energy a boost. Also for your bike, please carry a spare inner tube/puncture repair kit. And do wear a helmet, as you will not be allowed to ride with us without, sorry.
Join me on Sunday for another "social" leisure ride, to discover new wonderful places and quiet roads on our doorstep. -

This weeks ride to Cannons Ashby will require an average speed of 12mph to get back in reasonable time. This is well within the capability of the group riding with me on the Sunday Leisure rides, so please if you are available do come along to this lovely National Trust property and cafe. The ride is only slightly longer than recent rides undertaken, but is a little more rolling than south of Buckingham, however it does offer some wonderful countryside to enjoy.
For the more experienced riders attending, it offers options to extend the ride to Little Preston via Maidford prior to the cafe stop, and to Sulgrave after the stop, to equalize the ride time out.Route: Chackmore, Dadford, Silverstone, Abthorpe, Blakesley, Adstone, Cannons Ashby [cafe], Moreton Pinkney, Weston, Weedon Lois, Wappenham, Syresham, Biddlesden, Chackmore, Buckingham.
https://www.strava.com/routes/5783787Weather: Cloudy but warm 15-18 deg. Slight chance of a shower @1:00pm, but should be back by then. Strong breeze from the WSW changing Westerly, slightly to our advantage.
The usual applies...do carry a drink for the journey, and a snack to refuel en-route. Carry a spare innertube/Repair kit. And wear a helmet...you will not be able to ride with us without.
We meet at 09:15 for a 09:30 start, midweek (to avoid school traffic).
looking forward to your company on the ride.
What the main road to Steeple Claydon from Padbury, passing Padbury Meat?
