You do not need to be a member of the club. No-one will ask you to join for the first 3 rides, just give it a go and join if you feel it is right for you.Hope to see you there.

You may be aware, my daughter is having a home birth, and I am on standby in case she is rushed to hospital with complications. Hence not in a position of putting myself forward to lead a ride.
However, if she has not gone into labour overnight, I will be riding tomorrow with Nik, So will be at the Swan Pool for a 9:30 start. You are welcome to join me on a 2x20 mile out and back ride, if no-one else comes forward to lead a ride.

This week I have selected two 15 mile rides around Buckingham, out and back. I have specifically chosen this format for any riders around the town who have been wanting to join a ride, but put off by the time commitment, or distance.
This format will allow any rider to be dropped off back in Buckingham after the coffee stop, or indeed choose to continue with the ride, if feeling good about their level of fitness. For the first loop we will head to Gawcott, Finmere, Shalstone, Boycott, Stopping at Stowe cafe for refreshments, before returning down Stowe Avenue to Buckingham to complete the first 15 miles.
For those continuing, we will head out up to Maids Moreton, Leckhampstead, Thornborough, Coombs, Padbury, Lenborough, Gawcott, returning to Buckingham again, for completion of the second 15 mile loop.

Weather is now looking dodgy but perhaps it will allow us the first loop, chilly compared to recent, so an extra layer and waterproof is advisable. A moderate breeze from the South shouldn't factor too much, as we will not be heading in one direction for too long.
To new riders...don't forget to wear a helmet, we have a no helmet, no ride policy, sorry!
Do bring a drink, you may be surprised how quickly you develop a thirst on a ride. And also bring something to snack on to boost your energy. Those living along the route, if you want to join the ride as it passes, just let me know your intention, so I can keep a lookout for you. We will be riding at around 12mph ( 1 mile = 5 mins). So calculate how soon we will arrive, and make sure you are ready to join as we appear.
I think that covers everything, if not just call me on 07952 226898. Hope this ride strikes a cord with others looking for a start to getting back on their bikes.
See you Sunday, Malc

It is looking like another hot sunny day on Wednesday, at least until midday, with light winds from the North, so please make sure you are carrying some hydration. We will be attempting to stop at Turweston airfield for coffee, with a back-up stop at Westbury (In case the rumours are true - that cleats are not allowed).
Route: Maids Moreton, Lillingstone Dayrell, Whittlebury, Silverstone, Abthorpe, Wappenham, Weedon Lois, Weston, Helmdon, Falcutt, Syresham, Biddlesden, Turweston Airfield, Westbury, Finemere, Tingewick, Gawcott, Buckingham.
https://www.strava.com/routes/14522873Distance: 38miles (61km) can be reduced as low as 25miles if needed, several options open to us.
Please do not be put off by distance. If the demand is there for a shorter ride, I am more than happy to meet your needs.
If you wish to ask anything, call me on 07945 226898

Leisure Ride will be around the Buckingham area. Depending on who turns up it may be South in the flatter areas around the Claydons and stopping at Twyford cafe for refreshments, or alternatively Northwest around Wicken, stopping at Stowe for the break, for a slightly hillier route.
Distance will be around 25miles at a relaxed pace, to encourage new and returning riders to participate.
If you can average 14mph, you are welcome to join the B ride, where you will be looked after, although we do understand distance may be an issue for some.
Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday. If you wish to ask me anything about joining the ride, call me on 07549226898.

Boy that was harder than I had planned. Not a specially hilly route but the wind was against us practically all the way, making it a bit of a slog? Or, more likely I was suffering from the effort at Silverstone last night.
Good turnout, made five of us in total. All in all a good tough ride, but good company.
With hind-site I should have chosen to ride anti-clockwise round. -

A scenic route to Thrift Farm cafe with a shorter return journey. 36 miles in all so should be around 2 hrs 40 mins of riding, plus coffee stop.
Route: Maids Moreton, Leckhamstead, Wicken Woods, Deanshanger, Passenham, Middle Weald, Whaddon, Thrift Farm(cafe), Mursley, Little Horewood, Gt. Horewood, Nash, Thornborough, Padbury Brook, Leckhamstead, Gawcott, Buckingham.
https://www.strava.com/routes/13626688Weather: overcast but warm and dry, light wind from the WSW at 7mph.
A nice chance to stretch your legs at you own pace. Undulating, but nothing too challenging, so a good opportunity for a chat.
New riders more than welcome to join us! Hope to see you at the Pool in the morning.
Another short ride to encourage you to take up cycling for your health and fitness, Join me on a relaxed ride through the local North Bucks countyside and villages, keeping away from the busy main roads as much as it is possible (we may need to cross one or two occasionally, to join up the minor roads).
This Sunday we will head to...
Chackmore - Bycell Road - Lillingstone Dayrell/Lovell - Deanshanger - Wicken - Leckhamstead - Foscott - Maids Moreton - Buckingham(cafe).
https://www.strava.com/routes/15978963
...returning for a coffee stop at Gelateria Gazzeria to treat yourself, or you can shoot off home if time constrained, it is up to you.
Riding distance is 20 miles, at an average speed of 12mph, should take 1hr 40mins.
The weather is looking good. Should see some sun, which always makes a ride, a pleasure. It will be cold, so wrap up warm, but not too warm as you will be surprised how much heat your body generates.
Helmets are a must, sorry.
A reliable bike, spare innertube and tools are all you need bring, and a drink is advisable to keep you hydrated.
The clocks go back this weekend, so don't get carried away and turn up an hour early.
Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday,
Any questions, just give me a call Malcolm on 07459 226898
