A gentle 17 mile ride suitable for those wishing to see what riding with Buckinghams Cycling Club is Like.
This route takes you through some of the local countryside, to the wonderful Westbury Community Cafe. Where we will take a short break for refreshment, before returning back down the old drovers path...Welsh Lane.Route:
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/56158520Current Covid restrictions allow us to ride pretty much as normal. However when not riding we must not congregate in a group bigger than 6, and wear a face mask. Your help in achieving this will be most welcome.
We are an affiliate club of British Cycling. All our riders must wear a safety helmet on our club rides.
We are on hand to deal with mechanical issues, when they occur. But, it will help tremenously if you are riding a cycle that is well maintained, and carry a spare innertube, and basic toolkit. It is advisable to bring a drink for the journey, I will gladly stop en-route if you let me know you need to.
Please check the Weather forecast to ensure you are comfortable in the conditions.Hoping to greet some new riders to the club this Sunday. You will find me next to the cycle rack, in the Swan Pool carpark.

Please note:
When meeting in the Swan Pool carpark, and whilst attending Cafe's...you must adhere to the rule of 6, wear a mask, and maintain 2 MTR distance from each rider in your group of 6.
It is only whilst riding under mitigation, that up to 15 people can group at 1 MTR distance.
We do not have long to wait before the rules are relaxed further, so for now PLEASE abide by the current ruling, to avoid bringing the Club into disrepute.
British Cycling announcement...
From March 29th, British Cycling affiliated Club and recreation programme rides (HSBC UK Breeze, Guided Rides and Ride Social) will be able to take place in groups of up to 15.These rides will be subject to a series of Covid mitigation measures, including: test and trace protocols, one metre social distancing while riding, two metre social distancing while not riding, and guidance covering hygiene, equipment sharing and self-sufficiency. More details on this can be found in The Way Forward.
Clubs and groups which do not feel confident or comfortable riding in groups of 15 at this stage are permitted and encouraged to set a lower limit which is appropriate for their own circumstances. 15 is a limit, not a target.
While we know that group riding presents a very low risk of transmission (due to it taking place outdoors, with very limited face-to-face contact), we must remain mindful of the wider public’s understandable concerns around Covid-19 and ensure that all clubs and groups respect and adhere to the relevant Covid-secure guidance for safe delivery. -
This week's ride is a gentle ride through the West of Buckingham taking us on a loop through Water Stratford to Westbury Community Cafe for a short stop, and returning via Welsh Lane.
The Leisure rides are for people who want to ride in the safety of company, to explore the local countryside, villages and cafe's. Fitness is simply a byproduct that will happen as you enjoy yourself in the fresh air, and take in your surroundings.
You do not need to be a club member to attend, we are happy for you to try us for a few rides, to see how you feel about club cycling first.
Route:
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/54619538Weather:
A cold'ish start but dry, with some sun and a light wind from the North.Helmets must be worn on our rides, as members of British Cycling.
A facemask will be required for the cafe and whilst off the bicycle, to comply with current Covid regulations.Long sleeve clothing still and gloves, but will warm up quite quickly, so layers are the most effective, and can be removed if too warm.
I do hope you will come and join us, we meet at location L on the map below of the Swan Pool carpark, at 08:45 for a 09:00 start.

At a gentle pace for 24 miles, to build/maintain your fitness for next years club runs.
