In fear of being a kill joy, drinking alcohol and cycling will potentially land you on the wrong side of the law, just as drink driving would. I believe I am still correct in stating that if you were to be stopped ( or involved in an incident ) while riding under the influence you would/could still lose your driving licence.
This was certainly true in the 1970's as happened to an acquaintance . -

Although of late I haven't been riding as much as I would have liked. Today made up for it. A brilliant ride in superb company. Well done everyone, and a special thanks to P S for his patience with this frustrating old codger, and to Lucy for arranging the venues. Not to mention Lucy's brilliant cakes.

Hi Folks, there is a lowlife A/hole whom drives a large brown two tone American pickup truck in the Towcester/ Whittlebury area. The vehicle registration number is USA 49? X. The driver has an intense dislike for cyclists, often coming within six inches of you shouting that he will put you in hospital if he sees you again. Several of the A5 Rangers C.C had a run in with him on Thursday last. Their encounter with this lowlife left them so shaken they reported him to the police whom have promised to 'write to him'.
I fear that solo cyclists could be particularly at risk from this scumbag, so please take care if you are heading to this part of Northamptonshire .PDC

On a Brighter note if anyone would like to attempt a shorter (60 mile) version of this ride at a slightly more leisurely pace I would be happy to lead such a ride!
