Right, second time lucky... (and it might not be very lucky considering how many diversions there are south of Buckingham!)
For Sunday's A ride I thought we might head south to Waterperry. The plan would be to ride the loop clockwise with a lumpy outward leg going over the climbs at Waddesdon, Ashendon and Brill (Tram Hill side); stop at Waterperry at 32.5 miles, then a nice flat return through Arncott, Marsh Gibbon etc.
60 miles in total
2500ft of climbing
18-19mph pace likelyRoute: https://www.strava.com/routes/2835455026621264296
I have checked the council website and avoided all the closed roads that are listed on there, so hopefully we wont be going on any scenic detours.
Weather looks great - partially sunny, up to 21 degrees lunch and an insignificant NW breeze. Bring a mask for the cafe. We will meet somewhere out the front of Swan Pool at 8:45.
Any questions please fire away.

Could do something like this:

Riding clockwise should mean that the return in mostly cross/tail wind. Bit of headwind on the way out, plenty of cross wind too tho. Matt can peel off early if need be and head home directly? George and Dragon stop at 29 miles.

No worries - not at this time of year, usually there comes a point in autumn when we all agree to start riding with mudguards for the winter months. They get disgarded at some point in spring when the weather improves. If it rains in summer then that's just bad luck and we all get wet (hopefully it's reasonably warm!)
Met Office are currently hedging their bets with a 40% change of showers/sun from 10am, whatever that's supposed to mean. With a bit of luck it will be light or nothing at all.

Howdy Folks,
Looks like The Barn at Upper Stowe has now reopened on the weekend, so that seems like a good excuse for a plesantly lumpy excursion into South Northants. The forcast is showers so I have restrained myself with the route planning and have gone for an easier return.
Length: 51 miles (cafe at 29 miles)
Climbing: 2950ft
Pace: 17-19mph (no dropped riders)Reminders: bring a mask, socially distance, meeting point A and click 'Yes, I'm Attending' if coming.
Hope to see you on Sunday. Please let me know if any questions or any problems with the route!

Howdy Folks,
Thought we might head SE to the Chilterns for a change. The plan would be to head out towards Winslow, Mursley, Wing then Ivinghoe - up to the top of the Beacon - then back down to the Curiositea cafe in Ivinghoe village (at 29.3 miles). After the stop home via Long Marston, Wingrave, Whitchurch.
Length: 57 miles
Climbing: 2700ft
Pace: 17-19mph (no dropped riders)Reminders: bring a mask, socially distance, meeting point A and click 'Yes, I'm Attending' if coming.
Hope to see you on Sunday. Please let me know if any questions or any problems with the route!

Howdy Folks,
I have planned an A ride to Waterperry for this Sunday. The forcast is overcast and 9 degrees with a light westerly breeze (3-8mph). Hopefully it will be dry-ish as no rain is currently forecast, just heavy cloud.
Destination: Waterperry Gardens Cafe (at 30 miles)
Distance: 56 miles with 2890ft of climbing.
Pace: 17 - 19mph
Duration: 3.5 - 4 hours including stop.
Terrain: Mostly flat apart from two nice jaunts over Brill - Muswell on the way out and Oakley on the return.Route: Buckingham - Chetwode - Marsh Gibbon - Piddington - Brill - Long Crendon - Shabbington - Waterperry - Oakley - Brill - Kingswood - Botolph Claydon - Gawcott - Buckingham.
Download the route here: https://www.strava.com/routes/2751083769381378402
Looking for a nice cohesive ride (no dropped riders) with a couple of opportunites to stretch the legs on Brill ;-)
Please click 'I'm attending' if you are coming. Remeber to bring a mask for the cafe and be sure to adhear to social distancing guidelines.

Hello Phil, I was planning to join you but I've just measured the chain on my winter bike and it's somewhere around (possibly over!) 1/8" stretched. Don't quite know how it got that bad, usually I wear chains quite slowly. Anyway, I don't really want to ride it in that condition so if it's dry I'll come on my summer bike, if it's wet then I won't join you. It's looking like it will rain heavily in the night, but if the wind stays up it might just dry out in time, we shall see. Don't wait if I'm not there on time though.

Not sure of the current situation James, but someone brought this to my attention when I planned a route through Waddesdon estate:
