@KatieR - there’s now a coffee-break only event that you can sign up to!
-
This Sunday is our traditional winter solstice all-club meet-up, with A, B, C and Breeze rides available and cake/tea laid on courtesy of the club (in fact your membership fees!). I hope to see a number of riders out, but recognise that not everyone may fancy riding in the current conditions.
But you are still very welcome to attend even if not riding! Please join us at the George & Dragon, Quainton, between 10:30 and 11:15 (approx.).
Please can you sign up to this event if you intend to come, to help us plan for numbers.
(But don’t sign up if you plan to ride - please sign up to the relevant ride!)
Hope to see many of you there on Sunday, for the final club event before Christmas.
-
If all goes to plan then around 10:40-45 @KatieR

For the Winter Solstice all-club meet-up, we are heading to the G&D at Quainton where cake will be laid on!
Here is the A ride route - nothing too taxing for this time of year, and route options a little constrained with road closures, but hopefully this appeals! We include a couple of bumps at Ashendon and Canon's Hill to earn the cake, with a loop through Nash to get us back to Buckingham.
It would be great to see A riders old and new for the last ride before Christmas - please sign up by clicking the "I'm Attending" button if you fancy it!
Distance: 49 miles / 79km, with the cafe at 29 miles / 46km
Ascent: approx 2000 ft / 600m
Speed: 17+ mph planned**but no one will be dropped if you are unsure and haven't been out with us for a while.

It's been a while since we got out for a ride, but the weather is looking more favourable (well, at least for December!) so fingers crossed that we will get out this weekend. It is a fairly straightforward route, not too long, to get us back into it. The current weather forecast is cool, cloudy but dry.
Initially heading NW to Greatworth, our cafe destination is the Grain Store at Middle Aston, chosen both for the prevailing wind direction (a tail wind from from the W for the ride home) and that typically should have have enough space to accommodate us inside. Note that the ride is slightly front-loaded.
The route is taken from our cafe map route library:
Distance: 48 miles / 77km, with the cafe at 28 miles / 45km
Ascent: 2000 ft / 600m
Speed: 17+ mph (no dropped riders)Our speed will probably be to the lower end of our typical range given time off the bike and is welcome to any current, aspiring or lapsed A riders - no dropped riders!
Hope to see you on Sunday - please click the link the "I'm Attending" button above if you'd like to join.

Third time lucky for a ride posted twice before but cancelled both times, to Rectory Farm at Stanton St John. This also happens to be the same destination as the B ride (also reposted), so an opportunity to step up / step down to suit anyone wanting to mix and match - why not give it a go?
Distance: 53 miles / 85km, with the cafe at 30 miles / 48km
Ascent: approx. 2100ft / 650m
Speed: 17+ mph - with no dropped ridersIt would be great to see you on the ride - please sign up above!

I'm reposting a ride planned for a few weeks ago but didn't take place: heading to Rectory Farm at Stanton St John. This also happens to be the same destination as the B ride, so an opportunity to step up / step down to suit anyone wanting to mix and match - why not give it a go?
There is a chance of rain (and I may pull out if it looks bad on the day), but sign up if you fancy coming and hopefully the weather plays nice. There are a few options to shorten the ride on the day if required to avoid bad weather - e.g., skip the ascent of Brill.
Distance: 53 miles / 85km, with the cafe at 30 miles / 48km
Ascent: approx. 2100ft / 650m
Speed: 17+ mph - with no dropped ridersIt would be great to see you on the ride - please sign up above!

Heading NW to the Greenhouse Cafe at Barn Farm Plants in Wardington - hopefully navigating HS2 road closures successfully.
You will notice a double-back in the route at Aston-le-Walls. The intention is to go straight through here without needing to use the main road. Ride with GPS won't let me cross HS2 but one.network doesn't show any road closures! If anyone has any better knowledge of what's going on here please comment, otherwise will play this by ear when we get there.
Distance: approx. 50 miles / 80km, with the cafe at 21 miles / 50km
Ascent: approx 2500 ft / 750m
Speed: 17+ mph; please note no dropped riders - we will ride at a pace to suit anyone signing upPlease come along - all welcome - sign up by clicking above!

It's been a busy week for me so I'm taking the easy way out this weekend and going to the same destination as the B ride, The Coffee Barn at Liscombe Park, near Soulbury.
We will follow a very similar (or the same route) as the B ride, meaning it will be an ideal opportunity for any B riders who want to try stepping up to the A ride to give it a go - with the option of riding with the As on the outward, homeward or both legs, depending how you feel.
I will confirm the exact route/GPX tomorrow (Saturday) but it will be very close to/the same as the B route.
Distance: approx 51 miles
Ascent: approx. 2200 ft
Speed: 17+ mph - but note that there will be no dropped ridersIt would be great to have you along, both existing A riders and any Bs looking to give it a go. Please sign up if you fancy it!

This week we have a club ride to Cafe Belge, near Beachampton, for an equinox all-club meet-up.
It is a front-loaded ride, with a longer loop into Northants through Silverstone, Stoke Bruerne and Hanslope before skirting Milton Keynes. After the cafe we do a shorter loop down to Mursley, Winslow and back home. You may want to bring some nutrition for the longer first leg.
Distance: 54 miles / 87km, with the cafe at 34 miles / 55km
Ascent: approx. 2500 ft / 750m
Speed: 17+mph (no dropped riders)Please sign up if you would like to come along - it will be great to meet up as a whole club! This may also be an opportunity for any riders looking to step up to the A ride to join for one or other legs.

Depending on time, and how our three rides progress, we may want to have a drink and/or food when we finish the ride at Yarmouth. There are various pubs (I remember one with a large garden overlooking the sea - it may be the George in Quay Street). There is a cyclist-recommended cafe called Off The Rails (https://www.offtherailsyarmouth.co.uk) on Station Road, but it closes at 4 and food finishes at lunch, so may not be suitable. A fast food option is Salty's Pizzeria, Bar & Takeaway on Quay Street (pizzas, chips, etc), which is open until 11:30pm on Sunday.
Feel free to post any other suggestions. We can use the IOW WhatsApp chat to coordinate on the day.

@luke1809 - I've researched cafes posted them on the A ride thread - given the similarity of the routes, they may also work for you.
