I've just received an email from Ride London and I'm delighted to let you know that we've secured a team entry.
I submitted an application for two teams: one male (4 errr... males) and one mixed (2 male + 2 female). We have been allocated the one male team entry. So sincere apologies to any of the ladies in the club who had their eye on a place.
I'm expecting more than four applicants for the team, so first of all, please consider the following conditions:
each rider within the team must pay their own entry fee (£69) and complete their own online entry form; all four riders in the team must have completed and paid for their entry by 17:00 Friday 25 May or the team will not be entered and not score in the club challenge. It is not be possible to merge any incomplete teams.
every rider in a team must be a current British Cycling member.
riders who hold an Elite or Category 1 British Cycling Race Licence are not eligible to enter the Club Challenge.
riders who have already secured an individual place through the original entry ballot or a charity place are not eligible to enter the Club Challenge.
once a rider has paid for their entry, they are not able to transfer their entry to another rider. Should riders no longer wish to take part, they can withdraw and defer their place to the 2019 event.
If you're good with all that and want to enter then please send an email saying so to swanwheelerscc@gmail.com by Wednesday 11th April. We'll then do a draw and announce the four riders at the AGM.

Our club website address is now swanwheelers.bike
Why have we changed?
Unfortunately despite numerous attempts, we could not take control of the swanwheelers.cc domain when Solstice Cycles closed. Why change now?
swanwheelers.cc was going to be valid for a while longer but we were taking a big risk not being able to control the domain. For example, if Weebly, our website host had changed its IP address or other settings we wouldn't be able to access the domain to update it resulting in an inaccessible web site. The other possibility was to wait until swanwheelers.cc expired, however, there is a grace period of 1-2 months once a domain expires before someone else can buy it. During that time the domain does not work.
So all in all, it was thought best we be proactive and take the hit with the change now.
Is there a redirect from swanwheelers.cc?
Unfortunately not. As we cannot access the domain settings for swanwheelers.cc we cannot add a redirect to the new addressWhat about search engines?
I've asked for our site to be reindexed - it make take a few days to reappear and possible weeks for us to get back to the same position in the results. What if I spot a broken link?
I've tried to catch everything but please let me know asap! (Strava may take a while due to us being a verified club which means they have to verify our new website address).Any questions?
Please askCheers
Matt

Swan Wheelers Cycling Club will hold its 2018 annual general meeting in the function room at Prego starting 7:30pm on Friday 13th April 2017.
All members are entitled and encouraged to attend. We'll be reporting on the year gone, looking at the club's finances, electing the committee for the coming year, discussing any member raised issues and holding the Swan Wheelers Awards.
As well as that, the club will be putting on some pre meeting pizzas from 7:30 (note this isn't a sit down meal, more along the lines of pre meeting appetisers; so you may wish to make sure you don't forego your tea for it!) There will also be a bar for you to purchase drinks from. To clarify pizzas are paid for by the club, drinks are self funded.
If you want to vote or stand for the committee at the AGM, you'll need to have renewed your membership for 2018/19 by then. @PaulW has added a post into the forum about renewing, but don't worry, we'll be emailing to remind you on 31st March when your membership expires if you haven't done it before then.
The agenda, procedure for election, nomination form and officer role descriptions are in the attached pack. The nomination process is the same as last year in that we are asking for all nominations ahead of the meeting. Members can then cast their votes for each role at the meeting. If you are interested in standing for any of the positions, please see the details in the attachment and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me or message me at @MattH
Please take note that Stephen Turnock, Lucy Seaborn, Paul Seaborn and myself will not be seeking nomination again this coming year. This means that several new committee members will definitely be needed. As per the club constitution, the club must have at least a chair, a secretary and a treasurer as a minimum to operate.
So we can advise Prego on numbers and determine how many pizzas we need, please indicate if you will be attending by clicking on "Yes, I'm attending" by Tuesday 10th April.
Look forward to seeing you there.

The club rules were overdue an freshening up. As such I've drawn a new set up and the committee approved them at the last meeting.
The intention was to make them less of a list of draconian "thou shalts" and more a guide to good practice, principles and safety when out on the roads in a group.
Please take a look at the new Swan Wheelers club rules and riding guide and let us know what you think.
These rules become part of the terms and conditions of membership when you join or renew.
Cheers

I've submitted an application for a couple of places (for teams of 4) for Ride London as part of the British Cycling club challenge. We should find out if we've been successful and how many teams we can enter by 30 March.
If we are successful it'll be a that point we'll open a ballot for places.
Ride London is 28 July.
Cheers

After the eternity that was the wait between the December and January socials (almost as long as waiting for @TallTim to change his gloves), the short month of February has meant the social pops up extra early this month.
Even if you’re not riding at the moment, it’d be great to see you down there for a couple of drinks and a chinwag (although talk of Tim’s helmet is banned!)
It’s the usual time of 7:30pm on Friday in the usual haunt of The Mitre. Hope to see you there.

Our annual club survey is ready and waiting for your comments.
It’ll take five to ten minutes to complete and it’d be really helpful to get your feedback on the club and what you’d like to see in 2018.

Time for one more ride before the year is out...
This week’s A ride is a 45 miler centred on Waddesdon. So that can only mean the stop is the excellent Cafe 94 (yes I have checked it’s open - several others aren’t with it being NYE).
The forecast is dry and blustery tomorrow morning, but it is going to rain overnight. With that in mind, please consider your fellow riders and get your mudguards on!
Apologies for the late notice of the ride, but the opportunity to lead only came up after yesterday’s snow in the north east put the stopper on a weekend parental visit (phew!).
Look forward to seeing you in the morning.
