Thanks @PaulW. As you've probably noticed I've been there a couple of times recently and told the owner I'd be bringing a small group along on Sunday and she agreed to open a bit earlier 😀

Thankyou @ElaineE. Have a lovely time at the zoo.

Hi,
As it's my birthday on Sunday we're going to my current favourite coffee stop, Puddleducks Cafe & Gallery near Napton on the Hill. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g1763975-d25681276-Reviews-Puddleduck_cafe_and_Gallery-Napton_on_the_Hill_Warwickshire_England.html
Here's the route : https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/184750688
It's 55.48 miles with 2,456 elevation. So, the same distance as Waterperry Gdns, a little hillier and much better road surfaces.
Please hit the "I'm attending button" if wish to join the ride and ensure you bring the essentials, i.e. money for coffee and cake, spare inner tubes, etc.
See you Sunday.

Hi,
THIS IS A NON-CLUB RIDE!
John H and I are planning to ride around the Chilterns starting, and ending, at Tring Natural History Museum car park on Friday the 1st September (but if the weather looks bad we will try again on the 8th September). The route is as follows : https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/184057695
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO JOIN US THEN YOU ARE VERY WELCOME - JUST HIT THE ATTENDING BUTTON.
A few things to note :
We aim to start at 10:00 am at the car park in Tring but, I'm sure we could flex the time if required.
The Chilterns are quite hilly so expect some climbing.
We shall try to maintain a "good B Ride" pace.
We will stop for refreshments at the Hawridge Velo cafe https://www.chilternvelo.co.uk/cafe/. Having visited it twice before (whilst walking) I can confirm that it has a very good range of cakes and does bacon rolls!
I will check the route for road closures nearer the time but, if anyone knows of any issues with the route then please let me know.
Don't forget that you'll need to drive to the start point. I would suggest that you allow 1 hour for the drive.

Met Office forecast is looking a bit dodgy! So, @StuartMcMahon, @Mark_Roberts if you want to leave earlier to make sure we get back before the thunder starts then I'm up for that. If not, then I'm good with the normal start time.
-
Hi @StuartMcMahon the road past Stowe House (between markers 3 and 4) is closed for the day on Wednesday. I hope it is because they are going to repair some of the dreadful potholes!. I guess the alternative is to go through the Boycott Farm Ford, i.e. join Welsh Lane earlier. There won't be any water in the ford given the dry weather recently, but there could be a bit of gravel.
-
@MartinG I'll go for the steady one today.
-
@MartinG - Mind if I join you at Chackmore? Save going through town.
-
@MarkE of course, see you there.
-
Hi,
The weather's looking good for Wednesday with a gentle breeze from the north/east so I thought we'd take a trip through the gently rolling hills of Northants to The Forge at Culworth where I'm told the coffee is excellent and the cakes are delicious. I've avoided any really lumpy bits and kept the distance down to just under 40 miles so it should be a pleasant ride.
For those of you that use Garmin here is the route :
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/160300945I have also provided 'fit' and 'gpx' files for those of you that use other systems.
I don't believe that there are any road closures on the route but you can never account for the impromptu tree-felling exercise, etc. anyway, if you can see any issues with the route then just let me know.
Of course, I should remind you to bring spare tubes, money, etc.
If you want to join the ride then just hit the 'I'm attending' button in the usual way and I look forward to seeing you at Swan Pool on Wednesday at 9:15 am.

@NiallB I assume you're referring to the fact that the train that was robbed was the overnight mail train, i.e. it was delivering the 'post'!
-
@StuartMcMahon - you could try Harley Equestrian ( https://www.harleycountrylifestyle.com/cafe ) as an alternative, save crossing the A5.
-
@PaulW Thanks, all loaded now.
-
@KirstyC do you have the route in Garmin format. I'm struggling to import the gpx file.

Thanks @KatieR I will see how things look in the morning and issue an update then. As you say things don't look good right now.

This weeks ride is going to the George & Dragon at Quainton. We go out via Stratton Audley and come back through North Marston and Calvert, i.e. an anti-clockwise loop. The full route is :
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/151185321
Normal rules apply for a Wednesday ride, i.e. come prepared with cash for refreshments, spare inner tubes, etc. We meet at 9:15 am for a 9:30 am depart. We'll go at the pace of the group and no-one gets dropped, etc. If we have a lot of people signing up then we might split into two groups.
If you want to join the ride then please hit the "I'm attending" button.
