Wednesday’s rides will take us to a new cafe, for some, Hogshaw Farm cafe. As it is the Easter school holidays the cafe may be busy but we are expected.
Owing to the road works in the area we will have to thread our way around them.
2 rides on offer.
36 miles, stopping at 20 miles:
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/256025866
42 miles, stopping at 26 miles:
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/256027810
The weather forecasts are currently predicting rain again for some of the time at least so waterproofs and mudguards are advised. There is also the prediction of gusty winds from the south. If the weather looks like it will be heavy rain all of the time then a decision as to whether to go ahead will be made early Wednesday morning.

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/250738719

Stuart, I suggest we discuss tomorrow what suits best those doing the shorter ride. The shorter thrifty ride can be shortened by missing out the loop going right from East Claydon and via Botolph Claydon and Granborough to Winslow and instead go left at East Claydon dropping down to Winslow. That should ensure, if required, both groups arrive about the same time and makes it a shorter ride. The current shorter thrifty ride has the advantage, to my mind, of getting most of the miles out of the way before the coffee break.
Niall, I will mention the DTN tomorrow.

With the weather forecast looking suitable for riding albeit with a strong westerly wind this ride will be our first Wednesday ride of 2024. Each has a new finish.
With the expenses of Christmas riders may appreciate a thrifty ride so 2 are on offer
A long thrifty ride of 41.4 miles:
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/239438001
A shorter thrifty ride of 36 miles (revised with a shorter first half):
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/239438584
Both stop at Thrift Farm cafe.
As always bring suitable tyre repair kit and water, etc.

With the Barn at Stratton Audley closing on 22 December this Wednesday’s ride may be one of the last, if not the last, Club ride there. There are currently extensive local road closures plus some flooding so we will take a roundabout route to get there.
2 routes on offer:
40 miles with a stop at 26 miles,
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/241034491
35 miles with a stop at 21 miles,
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/241034993
The weather forecasts are mixed with the suggestion of the possibility of some rain. The roads will in any event be wet with some localised flooding so ride carefully. Please bring tyre repair kit and use mudguards.

Revised route for long ride. You now get an extra 2 miles, total being 42.3 miles with stop at 23.5. 1952 feet of ascent.

Good news for all riders in that today's weather forecast has changed and now saying gentle N winds to blow us back to Buckingham.

In order to avoid road works, road closures, railway works, floods, mud on the road, etc we will head north to the charming delights of Culworth where hospitality awaits at the Red Lion.
The current weather forecasts (at Monday evening) indicate that it should be dry with light winds from a variety of directions.
2 rides on offer:
- 35.7 miles with 1447 feet of ascent, stopping at 19 miles.
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/235773395
- 40.84 miles with 1993 feet of ascent, stopping at 24.5 miles
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/235775030
As always bring sufficient water, payment means and tyre repair kit.
Given the usual numbers on a Wednesday, there is likely to be the need for a second ride leader.
Meet at the Swan Pool at 9.15 am for 9.30 am departure.
Look forward to seeing you there.

Phil Sangster of Winslow Wheelers and myself both reached the 70 marker recently this year and to mark the event are intending to do a 70+ mile ride (actually 74 or 78 miles, see below). You are invited to join doing this course on either a B or A ride.
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/189188307
The course is just over 74 miles and takes us up into the Chilterns and down to Benson on the Thames; then back up via Milton Common and Wormighall. We will stop about half way round at Benson and at the No 25 Cafe in the High Street. I understand it has a small outside patio and room to park bikes. There is also the Waterfront Cafe on the Thames further down but the recent reviews on Google are poor so probably best avoided.
On the way back if a second stop is required then one can divert at Worminghall to Waterperry Gardens which adds about another 4 miles.
The B ride is no drop at 15-17mph pace, A ride no drop at 17-19mph.
Bring tyre repair kit and plenty of liquids.
You can come and ride as a guest with Winslow Wheelers.
If you want to join us then please contact me (through the website or WhatsApp) so that you can be added to the ride sheet with your contact details.

The forecast this Wednesday looks promising with light winds from the SW. A good day for a ride?
This Wednesday we will head out west to Heyford Park with a coffee break at 23 miles at the appropriately named bike cafe, Spokes.
Then it is just under 18 miles of gentle riding back to Buckingham. In doing so after leaving Spokes and going through Bucknell we turn right onto the B4100; take particular care on this road as the traffic can be fast moving.
Total ride 40.79 miles, 1,231ft ascent.
Meet at Swan Pool at 9.15am for 9.30am departure.
Bring usual water, money, repair kit.Hope to see you there.
