  • Dedicated event to sign up for the B ride on the Isle of Wight day trip

Overall coordination (travel arrangements etc) will continue through the main event posting.

  • It looks like it's the 3 of us - are we up for a curcumnavigation? I've never been to IOW before so open to suggestions or follow someone else's route?

  • I've already ridden clockwise around, a few years ago. Happy to try the other way round.

  • Full route?

  • I will if you will 😜

  • I've just asked an old buddy who's done the route several times, about preferred direction. Here's his response
"My favoured route is anti clockwise, I think this has fewer tricky right turns and the prevailing wind tends to come from the west which is better on the south side of the island as you have the wind behind you! The killer hill is Blackgang Rd, up past Blackgang Chine. There is a pull in / car park at the top on the right, I recommend turning in there for the view and an ice cream!"

  • Need to decide. Not sure im ready for tjat yet@
    !

  • Could do a hybrid 50/60 miles, and meet the C's in Freshwater. The Military road down the west of the island is pretty open to wind. I'll look at a route tonight and post it on this chat.

  • I'm happy to do whatever as long as there's ice cream somewhere 😁

  • Thanks Luke

  • I Have adapted the A ride route, it's a few miles shorter and less hilly.

    The route can be reversed.

The main climb at Blackgang is either 40 miles (clockwise), 15 miles anticlockwise.

  • Looks good, I'm happy to go either direction but would vote to get the toughie out of the way early on

  • Great. And agree with Stuart.

  • @luke1809 - I've researched cafes posted them on the A ride thread - given the similarity of the routes, they may also work for you.

  • @JamesT Thanks I'll take look but I'm sure your suggestions will work for the B ride as well.

  • I have adapted the route slightly to take in a cafe stop at Newchurch (approx 25 miles) same as the A ride. https://pedallerscafe.co.uk/.
Use the same route plan link as above.
We can also stop in Cowes for last boost of Caffeine before the last stretch back to Yarmouth.

  • Sorry gents. I have to bail this weekend. Have a good one.
