That would make sense John. Official days should remain - there is nothing to stop members proposing an alternative ride on a different day, this forum would be the ideal place to do so. I guess it's a question of visibility, not sure how many are active on the forum for instance?

I had in mind something more proactive. This week for example it was obvious (even allowing for the inaccuracies of weather forecasting) that Wednesday would be a washout. Ride leaders were obviously unlikely to be coming forward. In those circumstances the ride day could be changed. This would be posted on the front timetable and would have more visibility than this forum.
There is nothing to stop others proposing other (additional) days as Paul W often does too. This doesn't always get many takers - which, as you imply, could be due to the lack of visibility of the forum.

On that note, fancy a ride out tomorrow?

Paul Woodham was suggesting Friday on the basis (I think) that tomorrow was looking iffy (it is). My potential diversion this week is an impending (and now overdue) grandson, so happy to go for Friday, subject to potential cancellation for me - but at least there may be at least two despite that.
Just realised what I said - "grandson" - since we don't know the sex does that imply sexist bias? (You don't have to answer that).

of late it's just been me with Malcolm @Malman and Paul T @Pdtinsley going out on the Friday as my previous attempts have failed via the forum, so I've been texting between us to set-up and off we go... more than happy to revert back to posting on the forum, and as you say see you Friday or anyone else for that matter, we can sort the direction/ route on the morning or I/we could make it more formal if you like, so what do you boys fancy then, wind from the S/W so.....?
The occasional Saturday is also good for me and PaulT is out and about too.
I like the idea for a more flexible ride calendar as you've suggested for weather related problems, one for the committee to consider at next meeting, sorry @MattH π

I would definitely be intetested in the odd Friday afternoon
As rides are quite often, as today, not run or are poorly attended because of wet weather, would making the ride day more flexible allow more rides to go ahead?
So, for example, the midweek ride could normally be on Wednesday as now, but if (in advance) it was pretty obvious this was going to be wet then the ride could be moved to Tuesday or Thursday.
You could do that with the Sunday ride too, and have it on a Saturday.
An added advantage might be that those who have other activities that prevent them coming on a Wednesday or Sunday would be able to attend.
