I have not received any nominations for social secretary ahead of this Friday's AGM.
Could you help the club out by taking on the role?
You can find out what's involved in the social secretary role description. You will need to print off a nomination form and ask another club member to propose you and another to second you. I will accept nomination forms right up to the start of the meeting at 8pm on Friday (gives you time to get the form signed whilst the pizzas are up for grabs from 7:30pm), although I would greatly appreciate a private forum message or email to let me know your intent of standing.
For clarification, and to be explained at the AGM, the incumbent secretary will not be continuing in the role. On the note, however, other proposals should not stop anyone who wants to, to come forward for any of the other roles. This is a democratic process after all!

Hi @Philmet1
I appreciate that once you add the VAT and delivery on, the base figure is increased. We did our best to strike the balance between price and quality when selecting CS. Velotec, our previous supplier was cheaper by about £8-10 per jersey but we got so many complaints about sizing and quality. Also we had to pay VAT (at Eire rate of 23%) AND delivery with them.
Our investigations into club clothing found Champion System were rated high for quality and came in at average price for club kit.
Don't forget you are ordering a custom made garment and the best selling point is there is no minimum order per type of item, so you can order the shorts and jersey without having to hope 10 other members want to order the exact same type of shorts and jerseys!
We continue to monitor prices to make sure we're getting the best value for money.
Cheers
Matt

The BuckingHam Sportive is supposed to start from the Buckingham School this Sunday morning. I say supposed to as several of us entered it last year only for it to be cancelled at the eleventh hour.
We shall not be moved however! We will continue to meet for the club rides under our banner at the Swan Pool entrance. Just please be extra vigilant when departing as there will be increased cycle traffic and make sure you pick the ride group of riders to stay with once out on the road!

Swan Wheelers Cycling Club will hold its 2017 annual general meeting in the function room at Prego starting 7:30pm on 21st April 2017.
All members are entitled and encouraged to attend. We'll be reporting on the year gone, looking at the club's finances, electing the committee for the coming year, discussing any member raised issues and holding the inaugural Swan Wheelers Awards.
As well as that, the club will be putting on some pre meeting pizzas from 7:30 (note this isn't a sit down meal, more along the lines of pre meeting appetisers; so you may wish to make sure you don't forego your tea for it!) There will also be a bar for you to purchase drinks from. To clarify pizzas are paid for by the club, drinks are self funded.
If you want to vote or stand for the committee at the AGM, you'll need to have renewed your membership for 2017/18 by then. @PaulW will be sending details on how to renew on the 31st March.
The agenda, procedure for election, nomination form and officer role descriptions are in the attached pack. The nomination process is different this year in that we are asking for all nominations ahead of the meeting. Members can then cast their votes for each role at the meeting. If you are interested in standing for any of the positions, please see the details in the attachment and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me or message me at @MattH
So we can advise Prego on numbers and determine how many pizzas we need, please indicate if you will be attending by clicking on "Yes, I'm attending" by Sunday 16th April.
Look forward to seeing you there.

As part of the Spring Equinox whole club ride, the fast variation heads south to take in a few hills pre coffee stop. We're aiming to get to the Green Dragon for around 10:30 based on an average of 17mph (although the currently forecast winds might have a say in that!)
Don't forget to bring £4 for the refreshments at the GD.
Looking forward to it and hope to see you there.

One of the suggestions which appeared multiple times in the 2016 club survey results was having a classified ads section on the forum for buying and selling.
I'm in the process of setting this up, but wanted to do a quick, informal poll of whether members would want this to be visible outside the club too. In other words it's a section of our forum that we can see but so can others (like the non members section.) Ads would appear in Google search results (once Google found it and indexed it.) We could also, perhaps, have a view into it from the web site.
To maintain security it would be a case of asking potential buyers, both members and non-members, to contact you about an ad via the forum messaging system. That way no personal details are revealed and anyone outside the club abusing it can be very quickly and easily banned from the forum to prevent further access and contact.
Or we could just keep it visible to the club only.
Your thoughts please! Happy to do whatever the majority is!
Cheers

2.Sending me a message via the forum

This week's fast ride is one of my favourite training rides in the area. It takes in Avon Dassett country park and the challenging Edgehill. It's long one, but that's not the controversial part... that would be the lack of tea stop as there isn't a cafe along the route! (There is BakerGirl but unfortunately that's not open on Sundays.)
Despite that it is a great ride, so, if you fancy it please come prepared with plenty of onboard fluids and food!

Step right up for the slightly damp looking fast ride this weekend. Route is below with a stop at Limes Farm for tea/coffee and cake. Please bring waterproofs, some food, drink and money for the stop.
It's a step up ride so no fixed speed and no one gets left behind. Anyone at the upper end of the medium ride speed is welcome although you can leave the recents spate of medium ride punctures behind ;-)

That cheeky wind gusting from the south west means it's another foray into the Waddesdon area on the fast ride this week. Of course, the great news about that is it's another opportunity to stop at the fantastic 94 Coffee Shop!

Final call for attendees please!
