  • Logistics update
We have 15 riders for the trip

Guy, Dan, Niall and Gary B
Dick and Francine - will be down there already
I will be travelling with a small hareem of day trippers
    James T, Paul W and Laurant L
    Phil B + 2
    Alex R - Matt H
Rob and Liz - meeting us there
Peter N + Nigel from Buckingham

Sadly we will miss Steph due to a dancing incident (see what’s app)
I will setup a what’s app group for the trip

Liz and Francine are planning a 25 mile ride in addition to the 2 we have published

  • We have 2 routes for your delectation
A full circuit of the Isle - 100k
and a slightly truncated - 77k (don’t worry all the climbing is in the first half so you won’t miss out)

We should be able to meet up at Besty & Spinkey’s for tea at the 1 hour 30 mark
Then again at Cowes if required
Fish and chips back at Yarmouth

Other than that groups are encouraged to enjoy the day - fit in lunch somewhere, dip your toes in the ocean etc ….

    What’s not to love?

Please click the attending button if you haven’t already
We have a few volunteers to drive - so would like to firm everything up on Monday

  • @Niall are you still up for creating & leading a shorter ride, if so let us now & we’ll help if needed?

  • Hi Paul, yes happy to do so, I’ll have a look and show route possible routes

  • Thanks Niall.
Cutting up through Newport looks to be the best option.

More the merrier, and we have all day

  • Thanks Pat - where would the coffee/lunch be?

  • Sandown I think 🤔
Or Blueberries Cafe Shanklin looks nice

  • Hi Paul & Pat
Here is my first thought for a shorter ride - 49 miles. I reckon, given the relative speeds of A/B and C groups, both would take about the same time on the road.
    What do you think?

  • looks good Niall - fish and chip supper at the end
Blue Crab (just got to find it this year)

  • I plan to do the Isle of Wight too please.

  • Excellent - click that “I’m attending” button

  • Done - development needs 🤣

  • I found it last time - but too late before we had to leave. It's down one of the roads away from crossroads in Yarmouth, Cowes direction (ie, opposite to the ferry). However I think they also didn't open until 6pm.

Definitely need to do something as my one improvement to the trip last year would be eating before we head for home - don't fancy driving home on an empty stomach again!

  • And happy to drive too.

  • updated routes and info in the first post above

  • As I have not been near this ferry/harbour before, can anybody suggest a best place to meet/park? Looking forwards to a great ride.

  • Parking at the ferry terminal - It’s very small scale - nothing like Dover :)
I believe you can pre book the carpark (I think it’s £4 a day)

  • Hello all you day trippers

Update at the top of this thread
Weather looks to be superb on Sunday

  • @RobBianchi😆 struggling to get on the forum is now going too, see WhatsApp post @PatH, lost @Stephanie to by the looks of it 😥 yep looking good

  • @PatH happy to drive down but can only take one other

  • I'm ok to drive, have room for 3 passengers, and x2 bikes on roof rack. Ally won't make it.

  • Hey what time do you get back 4? If so I’m in if you have car space.

  • Hi Tim - nearer 6 after we’ve scoffed chips and got back on the road

  • I’m in so any space or do I need to drive?
