It's a toughie on the medium ride this weekend with a 42 miler taking in a double dose of larger Bucks hills in the form of Brill and Ashendon.
Here's a link to the route and as a reward for the efforts up the hills, we'll be stopping at the fab 94 Coffee Shop in Waddesdon.
So bring enough water, a snack, some money for cake and most importantly, your climbing legs! See you on Sunday.

This is the Ride Database and it's in beta, which is a techy term for saying it's good to use but not quite perfected yet!
The idea is that we build up a list of rides based on club rides or ones you've done yourself that you think others might fancy giving a go either as a club ride or solo.
What would be great is if we can categorise the rides in a consistent format which means we could then use the forum search (which is actually pretty powerful) to find rides of a certain criteria - eg length, town/village visited, hills. It may take us a while to get this spot on and I'm keen not to make this complicated, but as a starter I'm suggesting posts follow this format:
<Ride name> <Towns and villages passed through> Miles: <actual mileage> Distance: Short|Medium|Long Gradient: Flat|Undulating|Hilly Stop(s): <Coffee stop> <Link to route or attach GPS file>
Short being <30 miles, medium being <60 miles, long being 60+
I'll give it a go with a couple and would be keen to see what you think - please feedback and make suggestions!

I agree. Following the icy weather last week which meant the grit mixed in with the rain water it was particularly unpleasant being behind a bike without mudguards yesterday. I agree on not enforcing it, it may put non members coming along to try out the club (if they don't currently have any), but we should consider it to save fellow members behind you from a face full of grime. I know it's not the best look on race bikes but they are worth it - the forecasters keep telling us our winters are going to get wetter and milder. The Crud mud guards are perfect for those bikes with little clearance - I'm sure @stack stocks them at Solstice.

Twyford - excellent flapjack, would have been nice to have a slightly large pot of tea, but they were happy to fill up water bottles.

Happy New Year!
For anyone who's feeling brave or hasn't looked at tomorrow's forecast (in which case don't) then the medium pace ride is heading down to Waddesdon. The stop is at my new favourite coffee shop: 94 Coffee Shop in Waddesdon. I've built in some escape routes should the weather be too miserable to do the full route. I've also had to take a few some different roads than normal due to floods I encountered on New Year's Day (unless anyone else is as daft and fancies getting cold wet feet too!). Based on @Dannytomblin 's post in another thread looks like we'll be disbanding in Buckingham rather than heading back to the shop.

Right then @StephenT , @Woods and @Dannytomblin....
I've been in contact with the race organisers and if you're still up for the challenge of the Spring Chicken Road Race on 12 March then we need to enter individually online via British Cycling (link below). @JohnnyG - would you be up for it too?
We're almost at the end of our club's inaugural year and it's now time to renew your membership for 2016/17.
It's simple to renew. £15 to Paul Scotney at Solstice Cycles by 31st March 2016 secures your membership for another year. If you've forgotten what's available to you as a Swan Wheeler make sure you check out the membership benefits page on the website.
This year we're offering, not one but two great ways to pay... ;-)
Payment option number 1
£15 cash or cheque (payable to Swan Wheelers) to Paul Scotney in person at Solstice Cycles, Ball Moor
Payment option number 2
£15 cheque (payable to Swan Wheelers) in the post to Paul Scotney, Solstice Cycles, 38 Ball Moor, Buckingham Industrial Park, Buckingham, MK18 1RQ
Please write your name on the back of the cheque if you're responsibly "borrowing" a spouse or partner's cheque book to make the payment.
